Hassan Fadlallah, a Hezbollah MP, stated on Wednesday that the party would be a "true partner within the state and its institutions," while "supporting" the state's choice that takes into account all components of the country.

While the party gave its confidence to the new government, which committed to the state holding the monopoly on arms, Fadlallah said that if the state succeeds in liberating Lebanese territory from Israeli occupation, "Hezbollah will be behind it."

During the funeral of one of the party members in Hadath, in the southern suburbs of Beirut, the MP supported the idea that "the Lebanese state should have the power to decide on war and peace," but emphasized that the decision to wage war remains in the hands of Israel. He added that "there can be no peace in Lebanon as long as this enemy is present," in a context where the United States discussed with Lebanese policymakers the idea of a "reconciliation" between the two countries.

In a statement relayed by the state-run National News Agency (NNA), Fadlallah said not to "ignore the events occurring both in Lebanon and Syria and in the region as a whole, where "Israel, in collaboration with the American administration, is seeking to reproduce the 1982 scenario," a year during which Israel invaded Lebanon, launching the "Peace in Galilee" operation.

Despite Hezbollah emerging militarily weakened from its last war with Israel and the assassination of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in September 2024, the party was not excluded from Salam's government, being awarded the Labor and Health ministries. The MP expressed the wish that the Lebanese state play its role "fully" in "liberating Lebanese territory, stopping Israeli aggressions, and preserving national sovereignty," whether through "diplomacy, negotiations, or any other means."
