The Free Patriotic Movement (FPM) of Gebran Bassil denied on Wednesday, in a statement, the reports by Nidaa al-Watan accusing it of opening an account on X publishing caricatures of President Joseph Aoun.
The statement, published on X, said that "the Free Patriotic Movement denies what was reported today by the newspaper Nidaa al-Watan about activating an account on the X platform to publish caricatures of the president. The newspaper did not mention the name of the account for the sole reason that it does not exist. This fabricated information is part of Nidaa al-Watan's series targeting the FPM, and it will certainly not affect its national constants or its respect for the position of the presidency in particular."
The daily claimed that the party founded by former President Michel Aoun, who was at odds with his successor, mobilized its "cyber army" to attack the new head of state as well as the First Lady "to the point of minimizing the importance" of Aoun's visit to Saudi Arabia on Monday.
