Fire at plastics factory near Qaa contained by Civil Defense

BEIRUT — The General Directorate of Civil Defense said Wednesday that it had successfully contained a fire that broke out in the afternoon at a plastic box manufacturing plant near Qaa in the Bekaa Valley.

According to a statement from the Directorate, firefighting teams worked tirelessly to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby facilities despite challenging conditions. The operation lasted five and a half hours, from 12:50 p.m. to 6:20 p.m., according to the statement.

The statement added that rescue teams were able to fully extinguish the fire and cool the site to prevent any potential re-ignition. Authorities urged adherence to safety protocols in factories and warehouses to prevent future incidents.
