A resident of the Palestinian city of Nablus in the West Bank has been killed and several others have been wounded in a confrontation with Israeli forces on Tuesday, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
This weekend, the Israeli army deployed tanks to the occupied West Bank for the first time since 2022.
On Sunday, Israel's defense minister, Israel Katz, said the Israeli army had ''evacuated'' three refugee camps in the north of the occupied West Bank and had been ordered to remain there for the coming year ''to prevent the return of residents.''
Israeli leaders have repeatedly vowed to annex at least parts of the West Bank, which has been occupied since 1967, but such plans have consistently encountered strong resistance from Palestinians and much of the international community.
