"There is no Lebanon nor sovereignty since 1982 without the weapons of the resistance. The weapons of the resistance will persist as long as Israel and its threats persist," stated the Jaafari mufti, Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan, according to remarks reported by the state-run National News Agency (NNA).
Feb.18 marks the date the cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon ended, and the Israeli army should have withdrawn all its troops from Lebanese territory, but it decided to maintain positions in 5 strategic points in south Lebanon while withdrawing from occupied villages. Meanwhile, pro-Hezbollah activists’ protests against the suspension of flights from Iran were repressed by the Lebanese army on the airport road over the weekend, following acts of vandalism.
"A piece of advice to some arrogant people: do not compromise the national security of the country. What the greatest American-Israeli wars could not achieve, no one can," he added.
Sheikh Qabalan also warned against "mistakes" as the country "is a powder keg" according to him.
"Lebanon is a sovereign power with its people, its resistance, and its army. Tampering with sovereign security is an existential disaster for Lebanon, and the game of intimidation does not help. The weapons of the resistance are the greatest defense for Lebanon," he said.
