Air France and Emirates suspend their flights to Beirut on Feb. 23
"Airlines' decisions depend on the political and security situation, and the recent demonstrations organized near the airport must have had an impact," explains the head of a travel agency.

Air France and Emirates have canceled their scheduled flights to Beirut on Feb. 23, the day of the funerals for former Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and his designated successor, Hashem Safieddine.Two Lebanese travel agents and a foreign operator confirmed the cancellations to L'Orient-Le Jour. Both airlines had planned flights to Beirut’s international airport that day. The Lebanese Civil Aviation Directorate and Air France did not respond to requests for comment.Raymond Wehbeh, head of the Lebanese travel agency We Reach the World, told us that only flights operated by these two carriers were affected.
