During his visit to Lebanon, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was received Tuesday by President Joseph Aoun. He assured the president that Hungary "is awaiting cooperation initiatives with the European Union that will support Lebanon during this period across several areas, particularly in supporting the Lebanese Army," according to a statement quoted by the state-run National News Agency (NNA).
Szijjártó also met with the head of the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), Gebran Bassil, at the party's offices in the Mirna Chalouhi area in Beirut. Discussions focused on the situation in Europe, Lebanon and the region. The minister assured that his country "will continue to support Lebanon and maintain its diversity by all possible means," reported NNA.
