After three weeks of negotiations, Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam announced his 24-member Cabinet on Saturday, following a meeting with President Joseph Aoun. The new Cabinet was formed relatively quickly for a country where this process often takes months.However, the negotiations were particularly intense. Despite its short lifespan — with legislative elections due in May 2026 — Salam's government will have to tackle several important projects, including economic revival, political reform, dealing with Hezbollah's disarmament and consolidating the cease-fire in southern Lebanon.In this context, Salam seems to have paid particular attention to the political balances within his team to try and deprive parties of the capacity to block decisions and even to be able to count on the support of a (fluid) majority of ministers on...
