The governor of Bekaa, Kamal Abou Jaoudeh, has called on the Internal Security Forces, municipalities, and the Red Cross to "take precautionary and preventive measures to avoid any accidents or damage" due to possible upcoming bad weather, according to a statement cited by our correspondent.

Based on "meteorological data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation," the governor indicated that there is a risk of snow "from 800 meters" (Bekaa is at about 900 meters) from Wednesday morning to Friday, while Lebanon has been experiencing a very mild winter for several weeks. Meteorological services also expect that "the snow will be accompanied by a cold wave and ice formation."

The governor has called on the public and public services to "remain fully prepared to face any new developments or emergencies, coordinate with the operations room of the regional command in Zahleh (...) particularly in villages and towns adjacent to the Litani River, in order to avoid any accidents or damage."
