From Hammam Ezzeddine to an Armenian church: The sounds of Tripoli in an album
Composed by violinist Robin Antunes and guitarist Benjamin Garson, "Trablos" is a fascinating sonic portrait dedicated to the northern capital of Lebanon and a dive into its acoustic environment.

This album consists of 15 tracks filled with strange, unclassifiable sounds — an immersive and disorienting journey through a Lebanon on the brink, almost dystopian, yet punctuated by moments of striking harmony. It’s a sonic tapestry of noises, arpeggios, and textures that demand repeated listening. Composed and recorded in Tripoli in September 2022 by Benjamin Garson and Robin Antunes, the album is deeply rooted in the city's atmosphere."We tell our Tripoli — the way we saw, felt, heard, celebrated, and shared in this city," says Antunes. "We recorded extensively throughout Tripoli, using these field recordings as inspiration for compositions and incorporating them in postproduction to blend the city’s sounds into certain tracks."The album cover of "Trablos" created by Lilia Benbelaid.
