On Thursday, President Joseph Aoun received Bishop Cesar Essayan, the apostolic vicar of Beirut for Latin rite Catholics in Lebanon, in Baabda.

During their meeting, Aoun stated that there are "no majorities and minorities" in Lebanon, where citizens of the Latin rite are represented in Parliament by just one of the 128 MPs known as "the minorities." Instead, there are "competencies because we are all under the Lebanese flag," Aoun said.

Bishop Essayan, for his part, affirmed that the Latin Order and its institutions stand alongside President Joseph Aoun to support him in his new tasks.
