Satellite images of Beit Hanoun, a village in northeastern Gaza about six kilometers from the Israeli city of Sderot, show a Star of David etched into agricultural land, Al Jazeera reported Monday. The Qatari network said the number "7979" carved alongside may refer to the 97th Battalion of the Israeli army’s Kfir infantry brigade, known as Netzah Yehuda, which has been deployed in Gaza since January — particularly in Beit Hanoun — during the war between Israel and Hamas that began on Oct. 7, 2023.Formed in 1999 to encourage ultra-Orthodox enlistment, Netzah Yehuda is the only all-male unit in the Israeli army.
