A major fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in a domestic gas tanker truck in the coastal locality of Arida in Akkar. The fire spread to another tanker truck carrying gasoline stationed at the Lebanese-Syrian border.

The flames quickly spread, causing a major fire and creating panic among residents, who were forced to leave their homes for fear of the fire worsening, reported our correspondent in North Lebanon.

In a video received by L'Orient-Le Jour, thick black smoke columns were seen billowing from the burning tankers. Civil defense vehicles arrived on the scene to control and extinguish the flames. No injuries were reported, and rescue workers managed to extinguish the fire and limit the damage to the two vehicles.

The causes of the fire are still unknown.
