The Paris Philharmonic hosted the world premiere of Noir sur l’horizon, a piece for violin and orchestra by Lebanese composer Bechara al-Khoury. Dedicated to the victims of the Aug. 4, 2020, Beirut port explosion, the work was performed as part of a concert by the Pasdeloup Orchestra, conducted by Venezuelan maestro Christian Vasquez. Violinist Arnaud Nuvolone, a first violin of the Paris Opera Orchestra and a close friend of Lebanon, played as the soloist.The piece, composed in 2021, reflects on one of many tragedies that have shaped Lebanon.
