A Syrian national, Ramez Hamzeh, who had been hospitalized days ago at Mortada Hospital in Baalbeck after being shot in the border town of Kasr near Syria, passed away on Saturday. His body was transported to Dar el-Amal University Hospital, according to our correspondent in the Bekaa, Sarah Abdallah.

Earlier in January, Lebanese Army soldiers were injured in clashes with armed individuals near the Lebanese-Syrian border in the Maaraboun area (Baalbeck district). Similar security incidents have occurred recently, particularly following the fall of the Assad regime in Syria on Dec. 8, 2024.
