Nawaf Salam wasted no time setting his priorities upon arriving at Baabda Palace, declaring that rebuilding a "new Lebanon" must begin immediately. Salam, the former president of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), leaves behind pressing cases at the U.N. judicial body, including a pivotal one: South Africa's case against Israel accusing the state of violating the Convention on Genocide.
