The First Lady of Lebanon, Neemat Aoun, received Nadia Shami Aoun, the wife of Lebanon’s former President Michel Aoun, at the Baabda Palace Tuesday morning.
“The First Lady of Lebanon met with the wife of the former President of the Republic, who congratulated her on the election of President Aoun and wished her success as First Lady,” the Presidency said in a statement.
“Nadia Aoun extended her congratulations on the election of President Joseph Aoun as President of the Republic, wishing her success in her responsibilities as First Lady, particularly in social, humanitarian, and health-related fields,” the statement concluded.
The 14th president, General Joseph Aoun, was elected on Thursday, Jan. 9, in the second round, receiving 99 votes in Parliament out of 128 seats. His election follows more than two years of presidential vacancy since the end of Michel Aoun's term on Oct. 31, 2022.
