While Syrian nationals look forward to rebuilding their country and revitalizing their economy in the post-Assad era, the Lebanese people remain in deep uncertainty. Faced with an economic, financial, and banking crisis that has shown no end in sight for the past five years, they are witnessing their situation deteriorate further due to the devastating repercussions of the war with Israel.“If the U.S. sanctions against Syria were lifted, and political and security stability took hold, the Syrian economy could experience a spectacular recovery. As for the Lebanese economy, it would then face an unprecedented turning point,” said a member of the Zahle and Bekaa Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture during a private meeting held over the Christmas holidays.
