Saudi diplomats made their journey back to Kabul. More than three years after their departure from Afghanistan, after the Taliban seized control of the capital emboldened by the U.S. withdrawal, Saudi Arabia announced on Dec. 22 the resumption of its services at its embassy.The decision was “based on the desire of the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to provide all services to the brotherly Afghan people,” the diplomatic mission stated on X.A few countries have so far formally reestablished contact with Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which is still very much isolated on the international stage.
