The Israeli army has claimed on Tuesday to have seized over 84,000 weapons "from Hezbollah hideouts" in southern Lebanon, including grenades, anti-tank missiles, and advanced launchers without providing further details as to when the weapons were seized.

According to the Israeli army's Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, "Most were discovered in civilian residential areas, inside, next to and under houses."

Adraee claimed the discovery of different types of weapons, including "propelled grenades and launchers, advanced anti-tank missiles and machine guns, as well as special vehicles capable of launching various Hezbollah rockets, such as the Burkan and others."

He warned that Israel is determined to prevent Hezbollah from rearming, addressing the Lebanese people, as he often does, by questioning whether their government will allow “Iranian mercenaries” to rebuild Hezbollah’s military capabilities.

He added that the Israeli army had operated in some 20 villages in southern Lebanon, which he claimed "Hezbollah had turned into terrorist strongholds."

"Depriving Hezbollah of these capabilities is an important result in striking and weakening" the party, he concluded.

Despite a ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel on November 27, Israeli airstrikes, mostly launched by drones, have continued in southern Lebanon, killing at least 34 people and causing further destruction, particularly in border villages, by demolishing houses.

Lebanon’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said Tuesday that it has lodged a formal protest with the U.N. Security Council through its Permanent Mission in New York, condemning Israel's repeated violations of the cease-fire and security arrangements under U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701.
