In a press release issued on Saturday, the Lebanese Army Command announced that its specialized units would be detonating unexploded Israeli munitions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Baalbeck region, as well as in the south. The operation will take place on the Taybeh heights, in the Qlaya plain in Marjayoun (South Lebanon), as well as in the Rashaya, Sultan Yacoub and Loussy areas, in western Bekaa.

Lebanon is emerging from a destructive war between Israel and Hezbollah. Despite the cease-fire declared on Nov. 27, Israeli violations continue on a daily basis. The conflict began with the Shiite party's opening of a support front with Gaza on Oct. 8, 2023, but took a more violent turn with an unprecedented Israeli escalation from Sept. 23 onwards.
