What should this very special year be remembered for? The disappearance of the Gaza Strip and part of Lebanon, or the fall of the Syrian regime after a 13-year Civil War and 53 years of tyranny? Israeli impunity or the end of the Assad clan’s impunity? The formation of a new Middle East dominated by Israel and Turkey, or the collapse of the self-proclaimed “Axis of Resistance”? The radicalization of minds or the wind of freedom? The never-ending tunnel or the return of hope? History is moving so fast that we’ve gone from one feeling to the other in a few days. Everything seemed impossible and now everything seems possible. Yesterday, we had to be wary of our defeatism. Today, we must not trust exhilaration.
