BEIRUT — Greece's Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Qatar's State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi met with Lebanese officials on Monday, according to the state-run National News Agency.

Accompanied by his delegation, Mitsotakis met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain al-Tineh and the caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati at the Grand Serail.

So far, al-Khulaifi only met with Berri in Ain al-Tineh.

No statements from either official have been made yet.

The meetings come as a truce between Lebanon and Israel came into effect on Nov. 27, following 13 months of clashes with Hezbollah. During the war in Lebanon more than 4,000 people were killed, according to the Health Ministry.

Meanwhile, political discussions have intensified ahead of a parliamentary session scheduled for Jan. 9, 2025, to elect a president, following more than two years of presidential vacuum in the country. Qatar is part of the Quintet (United States, France, Saudi Arabia, Egypt), whose goal is to aid Lebanon in ending its presidential deadlock.
