BEIRUT — Samir Geagea, leader of the Lebanese Forces (LF), criticized Thursday the lack of arrests in the case of Roland Murr, the LF head of the Karm al-Zeitoun office in Achrafieh, who was killed in a violent clash on Dec. 4. Geagea condemned the failure to apprehend the "criminals" involved, adding that the investigation has now been transferred to the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces (ISF).

LF spokesperson Charles Jabbour confirmed to L'Orient Today that the case had initially been handled by the Lebanese Army's intelligence unit, but a source within the army denied this claim, offering no clarity on which agency had previously overseen the investigation.

In a statement relayed by the state-run National News Agency (NNA), Geagea emphasized that a week had passed since Murr's death, and no arrests had been made. He condemned the "abandonment" of responsibility by certain security agencies, describing it as "worse than the crime itself," as it fosters a climate of impunity. "This cannot be allowed," Geagea asserted.

Moreover, he stated that the crime has been transferred to the Information Division of the ISF following the "negligence" in the initial stages of investigation.

“We have received information about the seriousness of the investigations carried out by the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces, ... so, we call on them to move quickly, especially since those responsible are known by name and photograph," Gegagea stated, adding that there is no justification for delaying the questioning and arrest of those involved.

The Dec. 4 clash between LF members and the group Jnoud al-Rab (Soldiers of God) resulted in Murr’s death, causing significant upheaval within LF ranks. Geagea also called on caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi to take action against Jnoud al-Rab, urging for the group's disbandment.
