Lebanon's Army Commander Joseph Aoun received U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Chief General Michael E. Kurilla at his office in Yarzeh, the state-run National News Agency reported Wednesday.

"The meeting addressed general developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as ways to sustain U.S. support for the Lebanese Army amid the implementation of the cease-fire agreement in the south," NNA reported.

On Monday, the International Cease-fire Monitoring Committee held a meeting at Naqoura “to coordinate its support for the cessation of hostilities” between Hezbollah and Israel.

The committee “will meet regularly and closely coordinate its work to advance the implementation of the cease-fire agreement and Resolution 1701," a statement said.

A tense cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel remains in place as both sides continue to exchange accusations and maintain heightened military readiness. The truce, brokered through indirect negotiations involving international mediators, came into effect on Nov. 27 after two months of escalated hostilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border.
