The U.N. envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, called for an end to Israeli bombing and troop movements in Syria, Reuters reports. The official also stressed that there was a "risk" of new conflicts in the country if the broadest spectrum of ethnic groups were not involved in the establishment of new institutions.
Pedersen added that Syria could hope for an end to sanctions, the return of refugees and the implementation of justice, provided that "good arrangements" were reached in the transfer of power.
