Nan Goldin: ‘This past year was all about Palestine and Lebanon for me’

On the occasion of her traveling retrospective “This Will Not End Well,” hosted by Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) and featuring an installation designed by Lebanese architect Hala Warde, the renowned American photographer Nan Goldin chose L’Orient Today for an exclusive, worldwide interview.

Last Friday, we traveled to Berlin to cover “This Will Not End Well,” the retrospective dedicated to Goldin’s complete body of work, hosted by the Neue Nationalgalerie. Opening that evening and running until April 6, 2025, the exhibit celebrates the legacy of one of the most influential photographers and artists of our time. The traveling retrospective began at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 2023 and, after stops in Amsterdam and Berlin, will continue to Milan before concluding at the Grand Palais in Paris in the spring of 2026.
