The announcement of a 60-day cease-fire in Lebanon has immediately rekindled hopes for a truce in Gaza, following over a year of Israeli military operations in the Palestinian enclave. Just hours before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Tuesday evening announcement confirming his country's approval of the agreement, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed optimism at a G-7 ministerial press conference in Italy, stating that "by de-escalating tensions in the region, it can also help us to end the conflict in Gaza."Paris, one of the key sponsors of the Lebanon agreement, echoed this call.
