French president Emmanuel Macron was quick to define Lebanon's postwar political priorities. In a video posted Tuesday on social networks just hours after the cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel was agreed, he said. “In order to restore its sovereignty, Lebanon must hold elections without delay to designate a president capable of bringing together the Lebanese people by forming a strong, representative government.”The message is clear: now is the time to revitalize institutions, starting with the presidency.
