Following the announcement of the cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel, many people want to return, at least for the holidays... But airfares are keeping some away.

“I was shocked, I didn't believe it.” The day after the announcement of the cease-fire between Hezbollah and Israel, Nadia Ghawi’s voice is still trembling.Three years ago, this young engineering student moved to France, leaving behind a country already suffering from an unprecedented economic crisis. “It was two months of war, but it felt so long... It felt like a year,” said Ghawi, originally from Wadi Chahrour, in the district of Mount Lebanon.The student, who booked her ticket to Beirut a short while ago, said with a laugh, “I immediately asked my family to prepare stuffed grape leaves for my arrival!”A war of attrition between Hezbollah and Israel began in October 2023, in the wake of the war in Gaza, and turned, on Sept. 23., into an open war.In effect since Wednesday at 4 a.m., the cease-fire has sparked both joy and disbelief...
