Guterres welcomes the cease-fire in Lebanon

U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the announcement of the cease-fire between Israel and Lebanon, and expressed hope that this agreement could bring an end to the violence, destruction, and suffering experienced by the populations of both countries, his spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated on Wednesday.

Mr. Guterres also urged both parties to fully respect and quickly implement all the commitments they have made under the agreement, as well as take immediate measures towards the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.

He further stated that the U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon (Unscol) and the head of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (Finul) are ready to support the implementation of this agreement.
