The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed grave concern for the hospitals still partially operational in northern Gaza, where a hospital director described the situation as an "extreme catastrophe" to AFP.
"We are very, very worried, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to deliver aid and specialized personnel, as the needs grow more pressing," said Margaret Harris, a WHO spokesperson, during a press briefing in Geneva.
This concern, she added, is "particularly" acute for Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. "The situation in northern Gaza is one of extreme catastrophe," testified Hossam Abou Safiyeh, the hospital's director, speaking to AFP by phone.
The Israeli raid on Sarafand killed three Lebanese Army soldiers and injured 17 others, according to the Ministry of Health.
Two people were killed, and another was injured in an Israeli airstrike on Ain Qana in Nabatieh, our correspondent reports.

Qomati also vowed that Hezbollah would respond to the latest Israeli "transgression and violation," referring to the assassination of Mohammad Afif, the head of Hezbollah's media office. The group considers the killing "a dangerous indicator of an attempt to impose a new equation."
At around 1:30 p.m., “a UNIFIL position in Shamaa was hit by Hezbollah, which fired several rockets from Malikiye,” said Arabic-speaking Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee on X.
According to Adraee, this was in addition to another rocket that hit another UNIFIL position in the Ramieh village area of southern Lebanon at 9:50 a.m.
At 6:20 p.m., Hezbollah fired a salvo of rockets at a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the locality of Bar'am.
At 6:50 p.m., Hezbollah targeted another gathering of Israeli soldiers south of Khiam with "a salvo of rockets," marking the second such strike in the area.

The looting of humanitarian aid in Gaza "is becoming systematic and must stop immediately," said the spokesperson for the U.N. secretary-general, days after the worst looting incident targeting a U.N. convoy in the Palestinian territory.
"This obstructs critical humanitarian operations and further endangers our staff. However, law enforcement operations must be legal, necessary, and proportionate," Stéphane Dujarric added, expressing concern over a deadly operation carried out by Hamas authorities against suspected looters on Monday.

Argentina has notified the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Lebanon of its withdrawal, a UNIFIL spokesperson said, according to Reuters.
"Argentina has requested its officers return home," said Andrea Tenenti, UNIFIL's spokesperson, declining to comment on the reason for their departure and referring questions to the Argentine government.
Argentina is one of 48 countries contributing peacekeepers to UNIFIL, with three personnel currently deployed in Lebanon, according to the U.N.
UNIFIL has previously reported "unacceptable pressure on the mission through various channels." Tenenti clarified there is no broader indication of declining support for the mission. "The idea is to remain. Withdrawal is not on the table," he stated.
Tenenti noted that UNIFIL's monitoring activities are "very limited" due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah and ongoing repairs at some of its facilities. "We are still working to repair certain positions, but it is a challenging time, as we have been deliberately targeted by the Israeli army in recent months. We are doing our best to rebuild these areas," he said.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) announced that "U.N. peacekeepers and UNIFIL installations were targeted in three separate incidents in southern Lebanon" today, resulting in injuries to four Ghanaian peacekeepers.
According to a statement from UNIFIL, the injuries occurred when a rocket, "most likely fired by non-state actors from Lebanon," struck their base east of the village of Ramieh in the Bint Jbeil district. Three of the injured peacekeepers were transferred to a hospital in Sour for treatment.
Additionally, "UNIFIL's western sector headquarters in Shamaa (Sour district) was hit by five rockets." While the attack caused significant material damage, "no peacekeepers were injured," UNIFIL said. The statement noted that this was the second time the base had been targeted in less than a week. On Nov. 15, a 155 mm artillery shell had struck the same base.

In an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat after a two-hour meeting with U.S. special envoy Amos Hochstein, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that “the situation is good, in principle, and only a few details remain to be worked out.” He added that “a representative from him and another from the Americans are in charge of discussing certain technical aspects to finalize them before moving on to the next stage, which will be Hochstein's departure for Israel. We're waiting to see what he brings back."
Berri reaffirmed that “the situation is good,” while stressing that “guarantees concerning the Israeli position are the responsibility of the Americans”.
Asked about the proposal under discussion and whether it had already been discussed with the Israelis, Berri replied, “Hochstein claims to have coordinated with them,” before adding, “It wouldn't be the first time the Israelis reneged on their commitments.”
Hezbollah said that it fired rockets at a group of Israeli soldiers in the village of Malikiyah in northern Israel, facing the Lebanese village of Aita al-Shaab (Bint Jbeil district), at 2 p.m.

Hezbollah said that it fired rockets at a group of Israeli soldiers on the southern outskirts of Maroun al-Ras (Bint Jbeil district) at 3:30 p.m.
The French Minister of the Armed Forces, on a tour of the Gulf, said in Abu Dhabi that he had discussed with his counterparts in the region the need to support the Lebanese Army, reports AFP.
“There is no better solution at this stage than to respect Resolution 1701 [of the U.N.] and support the Lebanese armed forces,” Sébastien Lecornu told AFP, at a time when diplomatic efforts are intensifying to reach a cease-fire.
Prior to the United Arab Emirates, where he met President Mohammad ben Zayed and his Defense Minister on Tuesday, Lecornu had visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia. “I reiterated to each of my counterparts that we need them to support the Lebanese army, both in the central role it plays in social matters and on the security front,” he said, adding "we need to imagine more operational support on the military front."

Mikati added that the government's main concern was “the rapid return of displaced persons to their regions” and “an end to the Israeli war of annihilation and the senseless destruction of Lebanese towns.” He insisted on “the clear application of international resolutions and the strengthening of the army's authority in the South.”
Lebanon has submitted a new complaint to the U.N. Security Council concerning Israel's attacks on its territory between Nov. 2 and 11, 2024, as the escalation between Hezbollah and Israel has intensified since Oct. 8, 2023, against the backdrop of a visit to Lebanon on Tuesday by U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein for negotiations.
The complaint is part of a series of regular complaints submitted by the Foreign Affairs Ministry through Lebanon's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York to document the effects of Israeli aggression and its repercussions on Lebanon, and to remind the international community of the need to put an end to it, reports our correspondent Hoda Chedid.

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein is now at Beirut's Grand Serail, where he is holding talks with outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati, in the presence of U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson and outgoing Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib.

More than 200 children have been killed and 1,100 injured in Israeli attacks in Lebanon in the past two months of the escalation in the war, UNICEF warned, adding that an average of "more than three" are killed a day, reported AFP.
"The number of over 200 [children killed] is just in the last two months. It's at least 231 since the start of the war last year," James Elder told a Geneva press briefing in response to a reporter's question about casualties. He also stated that "a disconcerting trend is emerging: these deaths are being met with inertia by those in a position to put an end to this violence."
The Palestinian Authority reported that three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli operation in the occupied West Bank, AFP reported.
An Israeli source familiar with cease-fire negotiations with Hezbollah has cast doubt on the likelihood of an imminent agreement, noting that the party's "refusal to accept Israel's demand for the right to strike the group in Lebanon in the event of a cease-fire violation could jeopardize the process," reported CNN.
A point of contention in the current U.S. proposed deal is that Israel demands the right to operate against Hezbollah in Lebanon should it believe there are violations of the agreement.
A revision of the clause allows Israel to request the monitoring committee — U.S. France, Lebanon, Israel and the U.N — to search sites or act against activities it deems threatening.
In Lebanon, this provision is seen as a violation of Lebanese sovereignty, as it could place the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL under Israeli directives.

As the Israeli army advances in its invasion of southern Lebanon, its troops have allegedly found "large stockpiles of Russian weapons," confirming Israel's long-held suspicions that Hezbollah is strengthening its fighting capacity with sophisticated Russian military equipment, reported the Wall Street Journal.
Some of these weapons, including modern Kornet anti-tank missiles manufactured as recently as 2020, have been sent to southern Lebanon in recent years from Russian stockpiles in neighboring Syria, claimed Syrian security officials and an Arab official. Russia has long supplied weapons to the Syrian army and controls its warehouses in the country.
Argentina has withdrawn three officers from its contingent in UNIFIL, reports a spokesperson for the U.N. force quoted by Reuters.

The death toll from last night's Israeli strike on Zoqaq al-Blat, in the heart of Beirut, has risen to at least five killed and 31 wounded, according to the Health Ministry.
This toll is provisional and “body parts have been removed and are being identified, indicating that the death toll is likely to rise,” the Ministry added. Two people are still missing.
Air raid sirens went off this morning in central Israel after projectiles were fired from Lebanon, the Israeli army announced.
Following alerts in the Sharon plain and the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, around five projectiles were detected coming from Lebanon, the army said in a statement, adding that some had been intercepted.

Last night, MP and Nabih Berri's right-hand man Ali Hassan Khalil told Reuters that Lebanon and Hezbollah had accepted the U.S. proposal for a cease-fire with Israel, while expressing some reservations about the content. “Lebanon presented its comments on the document in a positive atmosphere,” the MP said, declining however to give further details. “All the comments we made underline our strict adherence to U.N. Resolution 1701, with all its provisions.”
