Following the announcement by the Israeli army on Wednesday that six of its soldiers had been killed in southern Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a picture on X: a green olive tree against a yellow background, accompanied by a broken heart emoji. The image represents the famous Golani Brigade, older than Israel itself and operating under the army’s 36th Division. It was founded in 1948, months before the creation of the State of Israel.On Nov. 13, six soldiers from the elite brigade’s 51st Battalion were killed after entering a building in southern Lebanon.
