The Israeli air force carried out two new “powerful” strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs shortly after 12:30 a.m. (local time), around an hour after the evacuation warnings were published by the Israeli army spokesman.
According to NNA, the areas hit were Burj al-Barajneh and Haret Hreik, the two neighborhoods mentioned earlier in the published warnings.
Hezbollah claims that its fighters targeted an Israeli army position in Maroun al-Ras (Bint Jbeil) at 10 p.m. and, at the same time, another position “on the southern outskirts of the village of Bint Jbeil.” Both attacks were carried out with “a salvo of Nasr 1-type rockets.”
In mid-October, the party presented this new “precision” missile, with a diameter of 302 millimeters, an explosive warhead weighing 100 kilograms, and a range of 100 kilometers.
In addition, the party claims to have attacked at 10:45 p.m. “a gathering of Israeli enemy army forces east of the village of Maroun al-Ras with a salvo of rockets.”
Israel is preparing a cease-fire plan in Lebanon as a “gift” for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, according to officials quoted by the Washington Post.
An Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity to the U.S. daily, said there is a tacit agreement that Israel “will give Trump a gift” and that in January, i.e. when he takes office, “an agreement on Lebanon will be reached.”

The Israeli army has announced that it has attacked transit routes used by Hezbollah to transfer weapons from Syria to Lebanon, Haaretz reports.
According to the Israeli army, the attack on these routes targeted the capabilities of Hezbollah's 4400 unit, which is responsible for transferring weapons from Iran to Lebanon.
According to the National News Agency, the third Israeli strike on Beirut's southern suburbs also targeted Haret Hreik.

Six Israeli soldiers have been killed in action in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army has announced, according to Haaretz.

Israel's new Defense Minister, Israel Katz, has vowed not to “lift our foot off the gas” in the face of Hezbollah, reports AFP.
“We will not make any cease-fire, we will not lift our foot off the gas, and we will not allow any agreement that does not include the realization of the objectives of the war, and in particular Israel's right to act alone against any terrorist activity,” said Katz on his first visit to the Israeli army's Northern Command base since taking office the previous week.
Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel met in Washington on Wednesday with U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein, who is expected in Tel Aviv and Beirut this week to try to reach a cease-fire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.

At 3:30 p.m., for the first time since the start of the war, Hezbollah launched an air attack with a squadron of “quality drones” on the Kyria base (the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of War and General Staff, the War Management Room and the Air Force's military control and surveillance authority) in Tel Aviv, claiming to have hit its targets with precision.
At 2:45 p.m., it also launched a squadron of drones aimed at the Amos base (a transport training base in the northern region and a preparation center for the technology division), 55 km from the Lebanese-Israeli border, claiming to have hit its targets with precision.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack carried out at 3:15 p.m. against "the Ramim Brigade command headquarters" in the Honin barracks in northern Israel, with a salvo of missiles.
An Israeli drone struck a motorcycle in Yohmor al-Shkeif in the Nabatieh district, reported our correspondent in southern Lebanon, indicating that there were casualties.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "won't get politically what he couldn't get by waging war," said Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah at a press conference broadcast by local media.
"We will not allow Lebanon to submit to Israeli conditions ... and anyone who thinks that Israeli brutality will force us to accept the enemy's conditions is deluding themselves", said the MP, assuring that the party is "more committed than ever to resistance."
An Israeli airstrike targeted Kfar Roummane in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh district, reported our correspondent.
Hezbollah announced that it launched missiles at 2 p.m. on "the logistics base of Brigade 146" of the Israeli army located north of Sheikh Danun, a town east of Nahariya in northern Israel.
Update on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon:

At least 47 people have been killed in the last 24 hours, it added in a statement.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said he hopes U.S. President-elect Donald Trump would take a different approach on the Middle East during his term, but that "some of the messages coming from his side were concerning," Reuters reported citing NTV.
"It seems too early to me to make observations about this," Erdogan told reporters on a return flight from Baku. "Our hope is that Trump takes very different steps toward the region this term because the messages being given from time to time concern us," he was cited as saying.
Asked about Turkey's decision to halt all trade with Israel in May, Erdogan said Ankara had no trade ties with Israel at the moment and no desire to develop them. "A Republic of Turkey that is headed by Tayyip Erdogan can't continue to develop its relationship with Israel. We have no such intention," he was cited as saying. "We have cut trade and ties with Israel, period."
Turkey withdrew its ambassador in Israel for consultations after the Gaza war broke out, but has not officially severed its ties with Israel and its embassy remains open and operational. Erdogan also said China and Russia had signed an initiative that Turkey launched at the United Nations to impose a weapons embargo on Israel.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for launching another salvo of missiles at 12:15 p.m. towards Kfar Vradim, in the western Galilee region of northern Israel.
After announcing that it had intercepted four drones coming from the north and east of the country, the Israeli army reported that some 20 rockets had been launched from Lebanon today.
According to Haaretz, one of the rockets hit a building in the northern Israeli town of Ma'alot-Tarshiha. The Magen David Adom rescue service said there were no casualties.

Hezbollah announced that it had launched Fadi-6 rockets against Israel's Tel Nof air base southeast of Tel Aviv yesterday. In a short video published today, the party pointed out that this main base, the oldest in the Israeli air force, is located "southeast of the occupied city of Jaffa" and 145 kilometers from the Lebanese border. It is home to F-15 aircraft, drones and specialized electronic warfare units.
This marks the first time that the party has used the sixth generation of Fadi rockets since the start of the war with Israel.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack carried out at 9 a.m. this morning against Israeli soldiers in Sasa, an Israeli locality about 12 kilometers northwest of Safed, with a salvo of missiles.
Hezbollah announced that it had launched surface-to-air missiles at an Israeli Hermes 450 drone at 12:05 p.m. over the central sector of South Lebanon, and another Israeli Hermes 900 drone at 12:10 p.m., also over the central sector.
The party added that its fighters "forced the drones to leave Lebanese airspace."
Arabic-speaking Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee claims on X that Israel intercepted four drones coming from Lebanon and heading towards Israeli territory.
Israeli military strikes killed at least 14 Palestinians across the Gaza so far today, as Israeli forces deepened their incursion into Beit Hanoun town in the north, forcing most remaining residents to leave, reported AFP.
Residents said Israeli forces besieged shelters housing displaced families and the remaining population, which some estimated at a few thousand, ordering them to head south through a checkpoint separating two towns and a refugee camp in the north from Gaza City.
Israel's campaign in the north of Gaza, and the evacuation of tens of thousands of Palestinians from the area, has fueled claims from Palestinians that it is clearing the area for use as a buffer zone and potentially for a return of Jewish settlers.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken today called on Israel to implement "real and extended pauses" in fighting in Gaza to allow for the delivery of aid to its war-ravaged population, reported AFP.
"We need to see real and extended pauses in large areas of Gaza, pauses in any fighting, any combat, so that the assistance can effectively get to people who need it," Blinken told reporters during a visit to Brussels.
Blinken told reporters that "Israel has accomplished the goals it set itself in Gaza. This should be a time to end the war," reported Reuters.
In its first statement of the day, Hezbollah announced that it launched a salvo of missiles at 5 a.m. on a group of Israeli soldiers "east of the village of Maroun al-Ras," in southern Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district.
The Amal Movement announced the death of one of its members, Abbas Mahmoud Chouman, who was killed last night in an Israeli strike on a building in the village of Mazraat Meshref, in the Sour district.
The strike killed at least two people and wounded two others, according to our correspondent.

According to our correspondent, one of yesterday's Israeli strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs targeted the Dar al-Hawra Medical Center, located in Bir al-Abed street in Haret Hreik neighborhood. The center is affiliated with the Islamic Health Committee. Yesterday, we had reported that one of the Islamic Health Committee's medical centers was damaged in an Israeli strike.
Local news channel, al-Jadeed, reported that one of the Israeli strikes targeted an area news Rawdat al-Shahidayn cemetery, in Ghobeiri, Beirut's southern suburbs.

Another powerful, violent explosion was heard in and around Beirut.
Since yesterday evening, rumors claiming that Abdel Karim Nasrallah, father of Hezbollah's assassinated secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, has been killed in Syria. However, when contacted by L'Orient Le-Jour, Rami Abdel Rahman, director of the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), dismissed these claims. “This is not true ... [it's] part of the media war,” he said.

⚡ The Israeli army claimed it had killed "Hezbollah field commanders" in Khiam, Tebnit and Ghajar in southern Lebanon.
The army names: Mohammed Moussa Salah, Ayman Mohammed Naboulsi and Hajj Ali Youssef Salah, whom it claims to have killed in two separate strikes, without specifying where or when they were killed. It added that they "have carried out numerous attacks against Israelis and are responsible for launching more than 2,500 projectiles in the direction of the Golan Heights [Syrian territory occupied by Israel], the Upper Galilee, the Galilee Strip and Israeli army troops operating in southern Lebanon," the Israeli army said on X.
The National News Agency reported a "third violent attack" by Israeli aircraft on the Ghobeiri neighborhood in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati arrived in Beirut for a visit "whose sole aim is to stop the shameful Israeli aggression in Lebanon as soon as possible," reported the state-run National News Agency.
"Egypt is fully on Lebanon's side and provides it with all possible support," Abdel Aati said. "We are in contact with all international and regional parties, and on a daily basis with the United States, France, the European Union and our Arab partners to stop this aggression."

President-elect Donald Trump's latest picks for his new administration, announced yesterday, are likely to be more supportive of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-leaning cabinet members, reported The Washington Post today.
Trump chose Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, after naming Mike Huckabee as the next ambassador to Israel and John Ratcliffe as CIA director. Hegseth has been skeptical of a two-state solution to the war in Gaza, while Huckabee has been a strong supporter of Israel's expansion into the occupied West Bank. Also, Ratcliffe criticized the Biden administration's threats to suspend U.S. military aid to Israel if it exacerbates civilian suffering in Gaza.
These views are in line with those expressed by Israel's most senior officials. Netanyahu opposed the two-state solution. Israel's far-right Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, has unequivocally supported the expansion of Israeli settlements in the West Bank. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich has advocated making humanitarian aid to Gaza conditional on the release of Israeli hostages and imposing "Israeli sovereignty" on illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.

⚡ The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for two drone attacks today on northern and central Israel.
"The Islamic Resistance claims that its operations continue to destroy the enemy's strongholds at an ever-increasing rate," the organization's statement said.
Israeli strike on Aramoun (Aley) killed 6 people and injured 15, announced the Lebanese Health Ministry in a provisional assessment, adding that human remains had been recovered and that analyses were underway to identify them.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi is set to visit Tehran today for crucial talks on Iran's nuclear program, warning just ahead of his trip that room for maneuver is narrowing, reported AFP.
While the IAEA is allowed to carry out inspections in Iran, Grossi stressed the need for "more visibility" into Iran's nuclear program, given its scale and ambition.
"They have a lot of nuclear materials that could be used eventually to make a nuclear weapon, the IAEA chief told CNN yesterday, adding: "They do not have a nuclear weapon at this point."

Russia asked Israel to refrain from carrying out air strikes near its air base in Syria, as was the case in October, AFP reported citing a senior Russian official.
"Israel did indeed carry out an air strike in the immediate vicinity of Hmeimim," Alexander Lavrentiev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's Middle East envoy, said in an interview with the RIA Novosti news agency today.

In a post on X, he shows maps of the six buildings and urges residents to evacuate these areas immediately, without detailing any information about safe routes except staying "500 meters away."
These evacuation orders have been condemned by various human rights groups and research centers as inadequate, inaccurate and ineffective.
Here's an update of last evening's Israeli attacks:
- Artillery fire hit Khiam (Marjayoun) as well as the area around Shaqra and Wadi Slouki in southern Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district, reported our correspondent.
- The towns of Baraachit, Touline, Majdal Selm (Bint Jbeil) and Souaneh (Marjeyoun) were also bombed.

Late last night, the Lebanese Health Ministry released a revised toll of the Israeli strike on a residential building in Joun, Chouf, stating that the attack killed 15 people — eight women and four children — and injured 12 others.
Yesterday, Hezbollah claimed a total of 20 attacks against the Israeli army.
Notably, in its 18th announcement, the party stated that it launched a squadron of exploding drones at 9 a.m., targeting Israeli's "Yokne'am Illit factory, which specializes in the production of military technology." This is the first time the party has attacked this site, which lies 50 kilometers from the border, southeast of Haifa.
Yesterday evening, Hezbollah released an announcement detailing its latest operations against the Israeli army. Key points from the announcement include:
- The party's fighters have killed more than 100 Israeli soldiers and wounded over 1000 others since Oct. 1, 2024.
- They destroyed: 43 Merkava tanks, eight military bulldozers, two armored vehicles, two military vehicles, four Hermes 450 drones and two Hermes 900 drones.
- "As a result of the Resistance's intensified and targeted strikes, Israeli army withdrew from most of the localities, in the western sector, where they were present, returning behind the border."
- In the border villages of the western sector, the party states that "no infiltration or advance attempts have been recorded since Oct. 28, 2024."
- In the eastern sector, the Israeli army has withdrawn from several locations, including in Mais al-Jabal, Markaba, Odaisseh and Khiam.
- Hezbollah assured that the Israeli army's ground offensive "will result in failure and more losses and failures," adding that its fighters "are ready." At dawn, An Israeli strike targeted a residential building in Aramoun, Aley district of Mount Lebanon, killing at least eight people and wounding several others, reported the state-run National News Agency.
The building on al-Bayader Street suffered extensive damage, with fires breaking out on multiple floors and sparking panic among residents. Survivors quickly evacuated after the strike, fearing further attacks. The search for missing persons in the rubble remains ongoing.
