Despite Donald Trump’s close relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a first term in 2016 in which he exacted decisions heavily in favor of Israel, many Lebanese leaders have reacted positively to Trump's reelection on Wednesday, believing it could help hasten an end to the war in both Gaza and Lebanon.On Oct. 26, Trump sent a direct message to the Lebanese people in a letter posted on X, vowing to end the conflict that had ravaged much of the South, Bekaa and Beirut’s southern suburbs in little over a month. "I will resolve the problems caused by [Vice President and Democratic candidate] Kamala Harris and [President] Joe Biden, and put an end to the suffering in Lebanon," he wrote, without detailing how he intends to accomplish this.
