US mistaken to think Moscow wouldn't use nuclear weapons, Medvedev threatens

Russia's former president and top security official Dmitry Medvedev warned on Saturday that the United States is mistaken if it believes Moscow would refrain from using nuclear weapons if its existence were threatened, according to the TASS news agency cited by Reuters.

Tensions between Russia and the U.S.  have escalated since the war in Ukraine began over two years ago.

On the ground, Ukraine reported the destruction of 39 Russian drones last night, while the Russian Defense Ministry claimed the capture of Pershotravneve, a city in eastern Ukraine, according to the RIA Novosti agency.
