More than 50 killed in Israeli strikes in Baalbeck district: Day 398 of the Lebanon and Gaza wars

The Israeli parliament has voted overwhelmingly in favor of a bill banning the activities of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Israel, despite objections from the U.S. and the U.N. The text was approved by 92 of the 120 members of the Knesset (10 against).

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack carried out at 9:45 p.m. against Israeli forces in Yaakouseh, near Khiam in southern Lebanon's Marjayoun district, with "a salvo of large missiles."

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for another missile attack on Israeli soldiers in Hamames, south of Khiam, at 9:40 p.m. The party also announced a third attack against the same soldiers at 9:45 p.m. Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for another attack at 9:45 p.m. against a Merkava tank in Hamames, at the same location, and said it had hit its target and caused "deaths and injuries" among the Israeli soldiers who were operating.

Latest developments in the Bekaa: 

- An Israeli attack targeted Hosh al-Sayyed Ali, in the Hermel district.

-An Israeli airstrike hit the outskirts of Mesherfeh, in Hermel, on the border with Syria.

Hezbollah announced it launched a salvo of missiles at Israeli soldiers in Hamames, south of the Lebanese town of Khiam (Marjayoun district) in southern Lebanon.

⚡ Throughout the day, Israeli strikes in the Bekaa region killed 64 people and injured 44, including women and children, according to our correspondent in the region.

Today's numerous Israeli strikes in the Bekaa region killed 53 people: 2 in Younine, 3 in Taraya, 9 in Ram, 2 in Hadath Baalbeck, 7 in Bodai, 2 in Brital, 2 in Hellaniyeh, 16 in Allak, and 10 in Hfeir.

Hezbollah announced that it had struck Israeli soldiers "west of Aitaroun," in Lebanese territory, in the Bint Jbeil district, with an exploding drone during the day. The party also claimed responsibility for two operations, also using drones, against towns in northern Israel: Kfar Giladi, opposite Markaba (Marjayoun), and Even Menachem, opposite Ramieh (Bint Jbeil).

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in the Bekaa region, according to our correspondent: 

- The Israeli strike on Ain Bourdai, Baalbeck district, targeted a house near a village high school. 

- The death toll from the attack on Ram rose to nine killed and one wounded. The victims include a mother and her four children. 

- An attack on Hfeir, Baalbeck district, killed 10 people 

- The violent attack reported earlier on Allak, Baalbeck district, killed 16 people. 

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack carried out at 8 p.m. on Rosh Pïna, an Israeli town located more than 10 km from the border with Lebanon, with a salvo of missiles.

Further strikes were reported in the villages of Baalbeck district, including an attack at Hosh al-Rafka, according to our correspondent in the Bekaa.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an 8 p.m. attack on Meron, in northern Israel, with a salvo of missiles.

An Israeli strike hit Ain Bourdai (Baalbeck district), according to our correspondent.

The United States expressed that it is "deeply concerned" about a bill under consideration in Israel's parliament aimed at banning the U.N.'s Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA), reported AFP.

"We have made quite clear to the government of Israel that we are deeply concerned by this, this proposed legislation," State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters, reiterating the "critical" role the agency plays in distributing humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The latest on Israeli attacks in the Bekaa, reported by our correspondent: 

- More than thirty airstrikes targeted the town of Baalbeck and the surrounding area. Hospitals in the region have launched appeals for blood donations.

- At least 25 people have been killed in Israeli strikes on the Baalbeck-Hermel governate so far, including 2 killed in Younine, 3 in Taraya, 7 in Ram, 2 in Hadath Baalbeck, 7 in Bodai, 2 in Brital and 2 in Hellanieh. 

- An airstrike targeted Allak, west of Baalbeck.

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, according to our correspondent: 

- Fighter jets bombed the Moscow neighborhood in Srifa, in the Sour district. 

Between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.: airstrikes targeted Qabrikha, Touline and Souwaneh (Marjeyoun district); Yater, Haris, Beit Lif, Hanine, Tebnine and Bint Jbeil (Bint Jbeil district).

- Dozens of Israeli strikes targeted Khiam, in the Marjayoun district. 

- Violent clashes between Hezbollah fighters and Israeli forces have been ongoing in Tallet al-Hamames in Khiam and the outskirts of Wazzani, south of Khiam, in the Marjayoun district. 

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy reported that his Israeli counterpart, Israel Katz, assured him the previous day that the military offensive in Lebanon "would end shortly," according to AFP.

"I spoke yesterday [Sunday] about the situation in Lebanon with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz," Lammy told Parliament. "He sought to reassure me that the current operation, the targeted operation carried out by the Israelis, would end shortly," he continued.

A bill to ban the activities of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in Israel has been submitted to the Israeli parliament ahead of a final vote, reported AFP. Israel has long been critical of the agency, and relations have deteriorated since the start of the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023. The government has accused some UNRWA employees of involvement in the Hamas attacks in southern Israel. For its part, UNRWA has denounced the bill and conducted its own probe into Israeli allegations. It also terminated the contracts of the accused members. 

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa, according to our correspondents: 

- Fires remain ablaze in Khiam, following Israeli strikes and shelling. 

- A strike on Horsh Ali Taher, in the Nabatieh al-Fawqa heights, caused fires in the area. 

- Airstrikes targeted the outskirts of Bodai, in the Baalbeck district. 

- The death toll from the Israeli strike on Bodai increased to seven.

- A fire broke out in a house hit by an Israeli strike in Qsarnaba, west of Baalbeck. 

The war in Gaza "should end," U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters after casting his early vote in the U.S. presidential election in Wilmington (Delaware, east), reported AFP. 

"We need a cease-fire. We should end this war. It should end, it should end, it should end,"

He said that he was going to "get out of here, get on a secure line, and follow up on that," following the Egyptian proposal for a two-day truce in the Palestinian Territory, presented as the first step towards a complete cease-fire.

In a video posted on X, the Israeli army claimed it had seized weapons and military equipment from Hezbollah in Kfar Kila (Marjayoun caza). "The army destroyed Hezbollah's terrorist infrastructure in Kfar Kila. It has found dozens of underground structures and hundreds of weapons, as well as Hezbollah documents, missile launchers and al-Radwan force equipment," stated the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesman, Avichay Adraee, on X. 

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa: 

- The recent strike on Hadath, west of Baalbeck, killed two people, reported our correspondent. 

- Another Israeli attack on Taraya, Baalbeck district, killed three people and rescue operations remain ongoing. 

- Earlier strikes on the entrance of Sour destroyed a house and caused fires to erupt in the place. Firefighters are attempting to extinguish the blaze and no casualties have been reported so far, according to our correspondent in the region. 

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in the Bekaa region: 

- Violent airstrikes bombed Temnine al-Tahta, in the Baalbeck district. 

- An airstrike targeted Masharih al-Qaa, in the Baalbeck district, at the Arab al-aidine crossing.

- In Ram, in the Baalbeck district, an earlier strike killed three people and injured eight others. Rescue operations are still ongoing. 

Hezbollah announced that it launched two exploding drones at the Israeli naval site of Rosh Hanikra, in the Israeli site of Ras Naqoura, "hitting it with precision."

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in the Bekaa region: 

- An airstrike hit the town of Hadath, west of Baalbek and another targeted the center of Baalbeck city.

- An airstrike targeted the crossing north of Al-Qaa (Baalbeck district) on the border with Syria, as well as the Josiya crossing, on the Syrian side, between Lebanon and Syria, our correspondent in the Bekaa reported. The crossing was targeted by Israel on Oct. 25, rendering it "out of service." Out of three, this is the second border crossing with Syria to be blocked due to Israeli attacks. Here’s an update on Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon: 

- Several airstrikes targeted houses in Khiam (Marjayoun district), residents reported. Five intense airstrikes also targeted the town of Khiam, causing fires to erupt, accompanied by shelling with several Merkava tanks positioned in the valleys in the town.

- The town of Srifa, al-Mansour (both located in the Sour district) and the eastern entrance of the city of Sour were targeted by Israeli warplanes, according to residents.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant claimed that Israel's strikes on Iran on Saturday had "changed the balance of power" between the two sworn enemies, reported AFP.

"The enemy has been weakened — both in its ability to produce missiles and in its ability to defend itself. This changes the balance of power," Gallant said in a statement issued by the defense ministry.

Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan discussed with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi "the importance of avoiding any actions that could destabilize the region's security and stability." In a post on X, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the officials had exchanged phone calls and also discussed "the repercussions of the ongoing escalation" in the Middle East.

A drone launched from Lebanon was intercepted before entering Israel, Haaretz reported, citing the Israeli army.

Hezbollah said it had fired a salvo of rockets at Even Menachem, opposite Lebanese Yaroun (Bint Jbeil district), at 5pm.

The Lebanese Health Ministry released today the total death toll from Sunday's Israeli attacks, which stood at 38 killed and 124 injured.

The breakdown of casualties is as follows:

- In the South Lebanon governate: 23 killed and 97 wounded.

- In the Nabatieh governate: 9 killed and 24 wounded.

- In the Bekaa governate: 2 killed and 1 wounded. 

- In the Baalbeck-Hermel governate: 4 killed and 2 wounded.

As of Sunday, the overall death toll in Lebanon since Oct. 8, 2023, has reached 2,710 people killed and 12,592 individuals injured.

South Africa has submitted a dossier of "evidence" regarding the "genocide" committed by Israel in Gaza to the International Court of Justice (ICJ), President Cyril Ramaphosa announced in a statement. The file "contains evidence demonstrating that the government of Israel has violated the Genocide Convention," according to the presidency, a claim that Israel denies.

The Israeli strike on Ram (Baalbeck district) in the Bekaa killed at least three people, reported our correspondent in the region. "Many people are still under the rubble," she added.

Hezbollah launched a salvo of missiles at 5 p.m. on Shomera, an Israeli town opposite the Lebanese Kfar Kila (Marjayoun).

Three Israeli strikes targeted Tayr Harfa, in southern Lebanon's Bint Jbeil district, residents told our correspondent in the region. 

An Israeli strike bombed the town of Ram, in the Baalbeck district, trapping children under the rubble of the building. Civil Defense members from the Islamic Health Committee, a medical association affiliated with Hezbollah, are currently working to rescue them. 

During the funeral of several individuals in the locality of Batoulieh in the Sour district, rescue workers from the Islamic Health Committee, a medical association affiliated with Hezbollah, were targeted by an Israeli air strike. No casualties were reported, our correspondent in southern Lebanon stated.

Six people were killed in an Israeli strike that targeted Bodai, in the Baalbeck district, residents told our correspondent.

Hezbollah claimed that it launched a "barrage of large missiles" at the northern Israeli town of Nahariya.

A merchant ship reported two explosions near its crew, approximately 14 nautical miles (about 26 km) southwest of al-Dhubab in Yemen, according to the British maritime safety company Ambrey, as quoted by Reuters. This followed a statement from the UK's Maritime Commercial Operations Agency, which indicated it had received a report of another incident near the port of Mokha in Yemen. It was not immediately clear whether the two incidents were connected.

Hezbollah announced two new attacks: 

- Its fighters launched a barrage of rockets at a gathering of Israeli soldiers at Margaliot, opposite Lebanese Houla (Marjayoun district), at 3 p.m.

- At 5 p.m., the party launched a salvo of missiles at the Meron air surveillance base in northern Israel.

- Two people were killed and four others injured in an earlier Israeli strike on Brital, Baalbeck district. 

- One was killed, and five others were wounded in an earlier Israeli strike on Shmestar, Baalbeck district.

- One was wounded in an earlier Israeli strike on Saraine, Baalbeck district. 

"The head of Mossad has returned from meetings in Doha on Gaza, and mediators will continue discussions with Hamas in the coming days to see the possibility of advancing a deal," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was quoted by Reuters as saying. "In Doha, the parties discussed a new unified plan that combines previous proposals and takes into account new developments," he added.

Avichay Adraee, the Israeli army's Arabic-speaking spokesman claimed on X that "fighter jets struck terrorist targets in Sour, southern Lebanon, today, including weapons depots, anti-armor missile sites, military buildings, and observation posts of several Hezbollah military units, including the Aziz unit, responsible for strikes from southwest Lebanon." He noted that the Sour region is considered a significant area for Hezbollah's activities, particularly for the Aziz unit. He accompanied his statements with a video and images of the targeted locations, alleging that the Israeli army "implemented several measures before the strikes to minimize the risk to civilians, including issuing alerts to residents."

🔴 "Once Hamas no longer controls Gaza and Hezbollah is pushed back from the border, I aspire to continue the process of the Abraham Accords with more Arab countries," Reuters reported citing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Speaking at the opening of the Knesset session, he also asserted that "Iran is building a ballistic missile industry," according to Haaretz. He claimed that "the State of Israel is the real obstacle in Iran's path, and we are thwarting its malicious intentions." Netanyahu added that Israel had attacked Iran's "industrial death factories" and inflicted damage on them. He expressed gratitude to the United States for its cooperation and noted that Israel is in continuous dialogue with American officials, while emphasizing, "We make crucial decisions ourselves according to our interests and considerations."

Around 115 "projectiles" were fired towards northern Israel from Lebanon, AFP reported citing the Israeli army. 

In a statement, the army noted that at 4:00 p.m. local time (14:00 GMT), approximately 115 projectiles launched by Hezbollah crossed the border into Israel.

⚡Hezbollah announced that it launched a salvo of missiles at 4 p.m. targeting the Stella Maris naval base north of Haifa. The attack is part of its series of "Khaybar" operations, launched shortly after the assassination of its leader Hassan Nasrallah by Israel in late September.

Israel struck the same house in Brital, in Lebanon's Baalbeck district, that it targeted four days earlier, after the initial rocket failed to explode, our correspondent in the Bekaa reported. One person was killed and 10 others injured.

Israel bombarded Bednayel, Hellaniyeh, Qasarnaba, Taraya, all located in the Bekaa district, and the southern Lebanese city of Nabatieh, our correspondent reported citing residents.

Hezbollah said that at 3:15 p.m. its fighters targeted for the "third time a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the Amra area west of Wazzani [in southern Lebanon's Hasbaya district] with a salvo of rockets."

Israel targeted an area between Zawtar al-Sharqieh and Alman, in southern Lebanon's Nabatieh district, as well as the town of Ramadieh (Sour district), our correspondent reported citing residents.

Hezbollah announced that at 4 a.m. it ambushed Israeli tanks and soldiers moving towards Tal al-Nhas on the outskirts of Kfar Kila, in southern Lebanon's Marjayoun district. After "direct" clashes with them using "machine guns and rockets, two tanks were set ablaze and the soldiers were killed and injured"

The Lebanese Army reported that one of its bulldozers had been targeted by the Israeli army while working to reopen the road linking Burj Qalawieh (Bint Jbeil) to Kfar Dounin (Nabatieh), according to a statement issued by the troops. One soldier was wounded in the attack, the army continued.

Earlier in the day, our correspondent in southern Lebanon reported that an Israeli drone had targeted a bulldozer clearing rubble in Burj Qalawieh.

The Israeli air force carried out an attack on an area between Zawtar and Alman, in the Nabatieh district in southern Lebanon, reports our correspondent. It also hit Rmadiyeh, in the Sour district.

Palestinian prisoners' rights organizations have accused the Israeli prison administration of “brutally assaulting” the most known Palestinian prisoner, Marwan Barghouthi, in September.

Members of the prison administration's “repression units” beat Barghouthi in his solitary confinement cell at Megiddo prison (northern Israel) on Sept. 9, the Palestinian Prisoners' Affairs Committee, the Prisoners' Club and Barghouthi's support group said in separate statements.

These organizations obtained this information from a lawyer who was able to meet Barghouthi yesterday, his first visit in three months, the Prisoners' Club told AFP.

In southern Lebanon, several localities, mainly in Sour, have been bombed in the last hour, according to reports compiled by our correspondent Mountasser Abdallah

⚡ According to our correspondent, a “series of strikes” continues to target Sour.

⚡ A second Israeli strike hit Sour, on the seafront. The corniche on the southern part of the city's peninsula, dubbed “Rue Nabih Berri,” was part of the area delimited by the Israeli army in its call to evacuate. Photos obtained by our correspondent from local residents show thick smoke covering the area.

Update from the Bekaa and southern Lebanon

Israeli aircraft violently bombed Hellaniyeh (Baalbeck), reports our correspondent in the Bekaa, Sarah Abdallah. Rescue workers on the scene have given a preliminary toll of six dead and wounded.

In South Lebanon, a raid targeted the town of Toulin (Marjayoun), killing three people and destroying the Tamiriyeh mosque.

After this first strike, Israeli aircraft overflew the airspace over the city of Sour in southern Lebanon, according to our correspondent Mountasser Abdallah.

⚡ An hour after Israeli threats aimed at a major area of Sour, which the Israeli army had called for evacuation, a first strike targeted an apartment on the Furn Bahr street in the city, according to information from our correspondent. A “warning” strike, launched by a drone, had previously been carried out by the Israeli army.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack at 12:06 p.m. against “a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Lebanese village of al-Aamra," west of the Wazzani river in the Nabatieh district.

Two bodies were extracted from the rubble of the al-Shaar family home targeted by an Israeli drone strike in Khirbet al-Adas, south of Rafah, Gaza, according to civil defense. The rescue service said on Telegram that the victims were a father and son.

The Amal movement organized funerals for three of its members who were killed yesterday in Burj al-Shemali (Sour), in an Israeli air strike. Local leaders and dignitaries attended the funeral.

Five people were killed yesterday in the air strike in Burj al-Shemali. In addition, the Amal movement had lost three other members, rescue workers, in a bombing raid on a medical center in Ain Baal, also in Sour. A seventh member of the movement was killed in a bombardment in Kaakaiyet al-Jisr.

Gaza's Health Ministry has announced a new death toll of 43,020 in the Palestinian territory since the start of the war with Israel over a year ago, AFP reports.

At least 96 people have been killed in the last 48 hours, it said in a statement, adding that 101,110 people had been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the start of the war.

The situation in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa

Israeli artillery fire targeted Halta in the Hasbaya district, with one shell landing near the town's school, local residents reported.

According to local residents, Israeli air strikes targeted Shamaa and an area between Halloussiyeh and Deir Qanoun al-Nahr (both in the Sour district).

The Israeli air force also bombed the banks of the Litani River, while a reconnaissance aircraft flew at low altitude over Iqlim al-Kharroub (Chouf district).

Israeli aircraft raided the town of Mashghara in the western Bekaa.

On X, the Foreign Ministry said it had referred the matter to the U.N. Security Council over “recent Israeli attacks on journalists and media facilities in Hasbaya and Ouzai.” “Israel's repeated attacks on media crews constitute a war crime” and Israel must be "held accountable and punished," the ministry added.

Three journalists were killed in a strike that targeted a compound housing reporters in the previously unscathed town of Hasbaya at dawn on Friday. The strike occurred as the journalists were sleeping.

Several media crews had set up there a month ago to cover the war between Hezbollah and the Israeli army. A cameraman and his technician from the channel Al-Mayadeen and a journalist from the Hezbollah channel Al-Manar were killed.

The head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has once again called for an “immediate cease-fire” in Lebanon, deeming the Israeli army's repeated attacks on U.N. troops deployed in Lebanon (UNIFIL) “unacceptable,” reports AFP.

“The European Union calls for an immediate cease-fire on both sides of the Blue Line,” the buffer zone that stretches some 120 kilometers between Lebanon's southern border and Israel's northern border, Borrell told a meeting of the 43 members of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona.

The EU High Representative also called for “the application of United Nations Security Council resolutions.”

According to the latest figures from the Health Ministry, seven people were killed and 17 injured in the Israeli attack on a building in the Al-Ramel district of Sour at dawn.

After the Israeli call to evacuate a large area of Sour, an Israeli drone flies over the city at very low altitude, residents report to our correspondent.

Israeli strikes last night on Kfar Joz (in the Nabatieh district) caused “significant damage” to dozens of buildings and businesses in the locality, according to the official National News Agency (NNA).

The bombardments also caused damage to two nearby hospitals, including the government-run Nabih Berri Hospital. 

The Kremlin has affirmed that Russia is doing everything in its power to facilitate de-escalation attempts in the Middle East by calling on all parties to exercise restraint, Reuters reports.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the comments in response to questions about the impact of the Israeli strikes on Iran. “Russia maintains contacts with all parties to the conflict. We have contacts with Tehran, as well as with the Israelis and Palestinians,” Peskov told reporters. “Russia is constantly doing everything in its power to call on the parties to exercise restraint and to facilitate any attempts to de-escalate tensions. “The situation remains extremely tense in the region and, of course, it is very important to promote restraint in this regard."

Two Iranian news agencies have announced the killing of a civilian in pre-dawn Israeli strikes on military sites in Iran on Saturday, AFP reports.

“Martyr Allahverdi Rahimpour, a civilian killed near Tehran in the recent attack by the Zionist regime, has been buried,” Fars and Tasnim agencies announced. Following the strikes, the Iranian army reported the death of four officers.

🔴 "Urgent evacuation call for the residents of Sour especially those living in the buildings between the following streets: Doctor Ali Khalil, Hiram, Mohammed Zayyat, and Nabih Berri," the Israel Army's Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee said on X.

Civil Defense members from Sour's municipality and the Risala Scout's Association are using loudspeakers to request those present in the streets Adraee mentioned to "leave immediately due to threats of targeting them with shelling," our correspondent in the south reported.

Iran has promised a “firm response” to its arch-enemy Israel, following Israeli strikes on Iranian military sites on Saturday.

“We are using all available means to respond firmly and effectively to the Zionist regime's aggression,” announced Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai in his weekly conference.

Earlier in the morning, strikes on Jabal Rihan in the Jezzine district wounded two people, according to our correspondent.

The strike on Batoulieh (Sour) killed at least one woman.

The Israeli government meeting will be held today at an undisclosed location for security reasons, reveals Haaretz.

Meetings are usually held at the Prime Minister's office in Jerusalem, but during the war they were also held at the Kirya defense complex in Tel Aviv.

⚡ The Israeli army continues to booby-trap and blow up buildings in Lebanese localities in the Sour district close to the border that it has been able to enter, residents told our correspondent in the South, Mountasser Abdallah.

According to these sources, several buildings in Dhaira were destroyed by explosives, including two mosques, a cemetery and a school. Similar operations also took place in Yarin and Oumm al-Tout, according to local residents and the official National News Agency (NNA). 

⚡ A car was hit by an Israeli drone on the Araya road, on the highway linking Beirut to the Bekaa, some 10 kilometers from Beirut, reports the National News Agency (NNA). The driver of the vehicle escaped the shot.

Several such strikes have taken place in recent weeks on the highway between Beirut and the Bekaa, most notably last Thursday, when a drone strike near Kahaleh left two people dead. On Sept. 26, a raid on a car, also in Kahaleh, seriously injured the driver. 

Hezbollah announced a new attack carried out at 7:05 this morning with a “drone bomb” on a company linked to the military industry in Yodfat, south-west of Acre, some 30 kilometers from the Blue Line.

This same position had already been hit yesterday morning by the party. The latter announced that this attack was part of its series of “Khaybar” operations, launched shortly after the assassination of its leader Hassan Nasrallah at the end of September,

Another raid targeted Beit Lif (Bint Jbeil) a little later.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a rocket attack on the Israeli border town of Kiryat Shmona at 8:30 this morning.

For its part, the Israeli army announced that some 15 projectiles had been “fired from Lebanon” at the village. Several were intercepted, the army said, and no one was injured. It added that a drone launched from Lebanon was also intercepted in northern Israel.

During the night, Hezbollah had called on the residents of Kiryat Shmona to “evacuate immediately,” in a message published in Hebrew and Arabic. 

Israeli Mossad chief David Barnea will remain in Doha, where negotiations with Qatari and American mediators on a cease-fire in Gaza took place last night, reports Haaretz.

According to the Israeli media, Barnea did not leave Qatar after the previous day's talks on “the broad outlines of a potential agreement,” and the negotiators are “considering a possible resumption” of talks “in the coming days.”

The southern suburbs of Beirut, on the other hand, were spared by Israeli aircraft overnight. No bombing was reported.

In the first fortnight of October, after two deadly bombardments in the Ras al-Nabeh and Basta districts in the heart of the capital, the southern suburbs also had a week's respite from bombings.

The head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, Hossein Salami, warned Israel on Monday of “bitter consequences” after its Saturday strikes on military sites in Iran, according to the Tasnim news agency, reports AFP.

General Salami, head of the Islamic Republic of Iran's ideological army, said Israel had “failed to achieve its hideous objectives” with the raids, calling them “a miscalculation” and threatening them with “bitter and unimaginable consequences.”

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for several attacks on Israel overnight and this morning

Hezbollah claimed to have targeted with artillery at 6:30 a.m., 7 a.m., 7:15 a.m. and 8 a.m. this morning, and four times, a gathering of Israeli soldiers positioned in front of the Fatmeh gate, a former crossing point between Lebanon and Israel near Kfar Kila (Marjayoun).

The party announced that at 12:50 a.m. it had fired a swarm of rockets for the second time at a gathering of Israeli soldiers stationed between Menara and Margalio, opposite Houla.

In its last statement of the night, it had also announced that it had fired a swarm of rockets at a gathering of soldiers stationed in Misgav Am (opposite Odaisseh) at 10 p.m.

At 6 a.m. this morning, two Israeli raids targeted the localities of Yohmor and Arnoun (Nabatieh district).

Earlier, at around 5 a.m., Israeli artillery targeted the upper quarter of Arnoun (Nabatieh).

During the night, at around 3.30 a.m., Israeli aircraft raided a building belonging to the Mousselmani family in the Ramel district of Sour, killing three people and wounding two others. The Lebanese Red Cross is still searching for missing persons. The strike caused extensive damage to surrounding buildings.

Shortly after midnight, Israeli artillery also shelled the town of Khiam (Marjayoun) several times.
