Qatar delivers fuel to Lebanese Army as part of $15 million military aid package

BEIRUT — The first batch of fuel provided by Qatar arrived at the Port of Beirut Sunday, the Qatar Fund announced in a statement Sunday noting that this is part of the "$15 million donation to the Lebanese Army announced in September 2024."

"This donation reaffirms Qatar's steadfast support for the brotherly Lebanese people, standing by them in their difficult circumstances," the statement explained.

On Monday, a Qatari aircraft arrived in Beirut carrying food, medical and relief aid to support Lebanese people.

In October, two Qatari military planes carrying aid and medical supplies arrived to Beirut airport. This comes in light of the intensifying conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. Since Sept.23 the death toll from Israel's ongoing war on Lebanon has surged to 2,448, with 1.34 million people displaced.

Qatar has continuously aided Lebanon since the end of the Civil War (1975-1990), providing monetary aid and political support, the country has helped Lebanon resolve various political crises over the years.
