"The military confrontation between Hezbollah and Israel is causing an unacceptable number of civilian casualties and an unbearable level of destruction throughout the country, making the situation in Lebanon, a country already affected by a multitude of crises, even more fragile," said the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, on Thursday.
In his view, the international conference in support of Lebanon, organized by France in Paris on Thursday, is “an important opportunity to mobilize urgent political and economic support for the Lebanese people and the country's sovereignty.”
“As the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, I will be carrying a message setting out the main steps to be taken to achieve this objective, and the European Union's contribution in this respect,” he concluded.
