Over 2,500 killed, 12,000 injured in Israeli strikes on Lebanon

In the latest casualty figures from the war, published one month to the day after the start of the Israeli escalation against Lebanon, the Health Ministry announced shortly before midnight on Wednesday night that 2,574 people had been killed and 12,001 wounded.

On Wednesday alone, 28 people were killed and 139 injured. The breakdown is as follows: In southern Lebanon, eight killed and 42 wounded, in the districts of Nabatieh, 12 killed and 68 wounded, in the Bekaa, three killed and 11 wounded, in Baalbeck-Hermel, five killed and 17 wounded and in Mount Lebanon, one wounded.

According to a count carried out by AFP on Monday, and updated by L'Orient-Le Jour, a month of extended offensive in Lebanon has left 1,608 people dead.
