BEIRUT — Ihab Serhan, a resident of Kfar Kila in the Marjayoun district, who was recently arrested by the Israeli army, was released on Saturday in Labbouneh, Sour district, and handed over to the Lebanese Army's intelligence unit via the Lebanese Red Cross, a security source confirmed to L'Orient Today.
Serhan's arrest occurred during an Israeli force's incursion into Kfar Kila. Since the beginning of the month, the Israeli army has been conducting ground operations inside Lebanese territory. Local television network LBCI reported that Serhan was released on Saturday near a center of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Labbouneh.
A security source told L'Orient Today that Serhan is in good health. The source did not provide further information about how the detainee was released.
Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in conflict for more than a year, alongside the war in Gaza between Hamas and Israel. Since the start of the conflict last October, the Israeli army has killed at least 2,448 people in Lebanon.
Last Sunday, the Israeli army claimed it had captured a Hezbollah fighter in southern Lebanon. The army also alleged that it had captured members of Hezbollah's elite al-Radwan unit in southern Lebanon.
