The director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reported on his X account an attack on the Indonesian hospital in Beit Lahiya, in northern Gaza, last night, which injured 40 patients and medical staff. He also mentioned attacks on the Al-Awda hospital in Jabalia, which also injured healthcare workers.
Israel has been conducting an aerial and ground military offensive in northern Gaza since Oct. 6, to prevent Hamas militants from regrouping there. The siege of this devastated area has forced tens of thousands of people to flee, with over 400 people killed in two weeks, according to local emergency services.
Additionally, two critically ill patients died following a power outage caused by the hospital’s generator going offline due to the strikes. Earlier in the day, Doctors Without Borders reported that the Indonesian, Al-Awda and Kamal Adwan hospitals were under siege by Israeli forces, according to the Gaza Health Ministry and local healthcare workers.
''The WHO is preparing a mission to deliver fuel, medical equipment, blood, and food to the Kamal Adwan hospital [also in northern Gaza] tomorrow, as well as to transfer critical patients to the Al-Shifa hospital'' in Gaza City, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced, calling for continuous and secure access for patients and medical staff who need it.
