The Lebanese University (LU) has decided to commence the 2024-2025 academic year online, following a delay due to the Israeli military escalation since Sept. 23, according to a statement released Thursday after a meeting between LU President Bassam Badran and the university’s deans.

The online classes will begin on Monday, Oct. 28, for the faculties of dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, law, political science and administration (French section). The faculties of science, technology, public health, fine arts, civil engineering, communication, law, political science, administration (Arabic section), agriculture, and economics and management will start on Nov. 4.

The faculties of tourism, arts and humanities, education and social sciences will commence their academic year on Nov. 11.

The Lebanese University campuses have been used since the end of September as shelters for displaced families, since Israeli attacks on Lebanon have left over a million people displaced from their homes.
