Hezbollah unveiled two new missiles, the Qader 2 and Nasr 1, in videos posted on its Telegram account Wednesday, marking a significant development in its military capabilities, even after it has suffered a series of recent setbacks.
According to the video released by Hezbollah's "War Media" Telegram channel, the Nasr 1 is a "precision ground-to-ground missile developed by Islamic Resistance engineers." It is designed to "strike targets and vital infrastructure with an accuracy of up to 5 meters" and features capabilities to "deceive air defense systems" along with "robustness against jamming." The Nasr 1 has a diameter of 302 mm, an explosive warhead weighing 100 kg and a range of 100 km.
An hour earlier, Hezbollah had released an initial video detailing the Qader 2 missile's technical specifications and main features. The Qader 2 is described as a "ground-to-ground ballistic missile also developed by Islamic Resistance engineers." It is intended to "strike vital targets with an accuracy of up to 5 meters" and is noted for its "high destructive capacity." The Qader 2 missile has a diameter of 620 mm, a length of 8.6 meters and weighs 3,200 kg. Its warhead weighs 405 kg, and its range is 250 km.
The Qader 2 and Nasr 1 missiles both "entered service on the front line with Israel on Oct. 14, 2024," according to the video.
The release of these videos coincides with reports from the daily Haaretz, which stated that Israeli security officials informed Netanyahu’s cabinet ministers that Hezbollah still retains about "a third of its stockpile of medium- and short-range missiles." However, the newspaper did not provide concrete evidence to support this claim. On Monday, Hezbollah published another video highlighting some of its military capabilities, asserting that these were "very good."
In recent weeks, several key Hezbollah figures have been assassinated, leading to significant changes in its leadership, including the assassination of its Secretary-General, Hassan Nasrallah.
