BEIRUT — Civil Defense succeeded Sunday in bringing under control a wildfire that broke out in a wooded area of Mairouba in Kesrouan. The fire threatened to approach homes because of the wind and the presence of dry grass, our regional correspondent reported.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Civil Defense published a statement saying it had extinguished fires in several areas, including Bourjain and Daraya (Chouf), as well as in Saysouk (Akkar). Firefighters are continuing their efforts to prevent the fires from reigniting in these areas, the statement added.
