The Israeli air force has carried out over 15 strikes on the town of Nabatieh, in southern Lebanon, and the surrounding area, according to our correspondent. These strikes were carried out with large-caliber missiles and formed a “belt of fire” around the town. Images obtained by local people show dozens of columns of smoke above Nabatieh and behind the surrounding hills.

The shelling targeted Zebdine, Nabatieh al-Tahta, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Kfar Tebnit and Kfar Joz. The detonations were heard as far away as Saida.

According to local residents, many ambulances headed for Nabatieh. No information was immediately available on the number of potential victims.

On Saturday night, the Israeli air force struck heavily in the center of Nabatieh, destroying buildings several hundred years old.
