Lebanon's caretaker Public Health Minister, Firas Abiad, convened with the Parliamentary Health Committee, led by MP Bilal Abdallah of the Joumblatt bloc, on Tuesday to address the urgent need for an updated emergency plan. The meeting aimed to enhance the Health Ministry's response to the escalating Israeli violence, which has resulted in a sharp increase in casualties and displacement. The committee also evaluated the ministry's strategy for the transparent receipt and distribution of aid based on urgent needs.

In a statement following the meeting, Abiad emphasized that the health sector "is resilient, continues to assume its responsibilities, and will do so moving forward." He noted that more than 150 paramedics and health workers have been killed in the Israeli attacks, with 13 hospitals either partially or fully out of service and over 130 ambulances damaged. Abiad reiterated that these actions represent "a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law."

MP Abdallah highlighted the effectiveness of the emergency plan implemented by the Health Ministry since the onset of the crisis. He pointed out that the effort required is immense and calls for additional government funding. In this context, he urged international organizations to support Lebanon on the humanitarian front.
