Shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday, Hezbollah announced that it had fired shells at Israeli soldiers on Lebanese territory, in the border village of Maroun al-Ras, in the Bint Jbeil district. According to the official National News Agency (NNA), sustained gunfire, including artillery fire, was heard in the area.
Last Tuesday, Israeli soldiers took photos of themselves planting an Israeli flag in the Maroun al-Ras park.
Nearly two weeks ago, the Israeli army launched a ground offensive in southern Lebanon. Its advances are regularly repelled by attacks from Hezbollah, which has also announced on several occasions that it has fired on patrols that have managed to enter Lebanese territory. Earlier on Saturday night, the party announced that it had attacked soldiers attempting to “infiltrate” the locality of Ramaya, 12 km west of Maroun al-Ras.
