At least five people were killed in Kfar Tibnit, about four kilometers southeast of Nabatieh in south Lebanon, in a series of Israeli strikes that destroyed the village mosque and several homes, according to our correspondent in the south, Mountasser Abdallah, citing local and security sources.
The deadly strike was launched at 3 a.m. on Saturday night, against a backdrop of violent bombardments of southern Lebanon. The localities of Dhaira, Bint Jbeil, Qouzah, Kfar Shuba, Hanine, Shaqra, Kfar Kila, Aita al-Shaab, Ramaya, Jabal Blat and Khiam were also hit by artillery fire and shelling. A two-story building and warehouse in Zifta was completely destroyed in one strike.
In the early hours of the day, the Israeli air force carried out violent strikes, with several missiles, on the Sharhabil area in Saida, the large city in southern Lebanon. According to our correspondent, an empty residential building was hit at around 2:30 a.m. Four residents of nearby buildings were slightly injured. This was the first time that this area of Saida had been targeted.
The Lebanese Health Ministry had announced that strikes on Saturday evening on an Islamic Health Committee center and Hezbollah-affiliated rescue workers in Aitit and the Nabatieh center had wounded two and eight people respectively. In Nabatieh, the strikes targeted the town's souk, causing extensive destruction.
