Violent Israeli attack on Nabatieh in South Lebanon, at least four buildings destroyed: Day 372 of the Gaza and Lebanon wars

The Israeli army has reportedly identified around 40 rockets launched on the country's northern border, some of which were intercepted, while the other fell in open areas, reported Israeli news outlet Haaretz.

At least 40 countries expressed their "full support" for the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), "condemn[ed] recent attacks on the UNIFIL peacekeeper" and called for their protection — five of whom were injured in the past 48 hours.

"We urge the parties of the conflict to respect the UNIFIL's presence, which entails the obligations to guarantee the safety and security of its personnel at all times," read a statement from 34 countries contributing to the U.N. force. Six more nations have since joined the call, according to a letter posted on Poland's U.N. mission's X account.

The Israeli strike on Tamnine, in the Baalbeck district, injured four people, announced the Health Ministry, adding that the strike caused material damage to the Tamnine General Hospital. 

The statement concluded that other Israeli strikes in the Bekaa region caused material damage to Rayak Hospital and Tel Chiha Hospital.

The Israeli strike on Brital, in the Baalbeck district, injured three people, announced the Health Ministry. 

The afternoon Israeli strike that targeted a house in Deir Billa, in the Batroun District, killed two people and wounded four others, the Health Ministry announced. The statement added that DNA tests are being conducted on mutilated bodies found at the site of the strike.

The strike targeted the house of a Shiite sheikh, reported our correspondent. 

Tamnine General Hospital (Baalbeck district), in the Bekaa, released a statement denouncing the "deliberate and brutal" Israeli attacks near the hospital, which "led to severe damage," in the complex. The statement added that several patients were injured by shrapnel and broken glass.

"The enemy's barbarism will not deter us from carrying out our mission until victory. We emphasize that we will continue to work to serve our people in the region," the statement concluded. 

Hezbollah announced that it launched a salvo of missiles at "a gathering of Israeli enemy forces in Kern Neftali," at 9:05 p.m.  

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon: 

- Artillery fire shelled the Khiam plain, in the Marjayoun district. 

- Airstrikes struck the town of Mansouri, in the Sour district. 

- Artillery fire targeted Jibbayn, in the Sour district. 

- At 9:30 p.m. Airstrikes and artillery fire simultaneously struck the town of Qawzah, in the Bint Jbeil district.

Here are the latest updates on Israeli attacks in Zahle, Balbeck-Hermel and Bekaa districts, according to our correspondent:

-Two people were killed in the strike on Tamnin, in the Baaleck district.

- Airstrikes targeted Saraine, Rmeileh and Nabi Sheet, in the Baalbeck district. No casualties have been reported yet.

- The Tall Shiha hospital, near Zahle, was damaged by nearby Israeli attacks, the hospital announced in a statement. No deaths or injuries have been reported among patients or nursing staff. 

- An airstrike targeted the outskirts of Khodor, near Baalbeck, leveling a house to the ground. 

The U.S. is set to deploy a system to intercept ballistic missiles in Israel as part of preparations for a possible attack on Iran and a potential subsequent retaliation. According to one source, no specific date has been set for the deployment, according to Haaretz.

The violent Israeli attack on Nabatieh, in southern Lebanon, destroyed at least four buildings in the town's market district, reports our correspondent.

The Israeli army stated that its forces targeted around 280 "terrorist targets" during operations in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip over Yom Kippur, from Friday evening until sunset on Saturday.

The Israeli air force "struck approximately 280 terrorist targets belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. These targets included underground terrorist infrastructure, weapons depots, military command centers, terrorist cells, and other terrorist infrastructures," the army said in a statement.

The recent Israeli strike in the heart of Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, targeted a commercial district and caused fires in the area, according to our correspondent.

The Israeli army declared areas around certain towns in northern Israel closed to the public after a security assessment, due to rocket and missile fire from Hezbollah in Lebanon, Reuters reported.

It announced that the military-closed zones along the border with Lebanon would now include Zerait, Shomera, Shtula, Natua, and Even Menachem.

The latest developments in southern Lebanon and the Bekaa according to our correspondents:

Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier over the Bekaa. They also struck Temnin, and four attacks targeted Nabi Sheet, in the Baalbek district. Brital and Sarain were also hit.

In southern Lebanon, the Shebaa Valley was struck, and Israeli artillery targeted the Khiam plain (Marjayoun district). Another attack targeted Kfar Kila in the same district. The towns of Kafra, Aita al-Shaab, Baraachit, and Nabatieh were also struck.

⚡ Hezbollah claimed responsibility for a suicide drone attack on Friday targeting "the outskirts of Tel Aviv," Israel's economic capital.

A top United Nations official said during a visit to Beirut on Saturday that he is concerned that Lebanon's ports and airport might be taken out of service, with serious implications for getting food supplies into the country, according to Haaretz, citing AP.

"What I have seen and heard today is devastating, but the sense is that this can get much worse still, and that needs to be avoided," said Carl Skau, deputy executive director of the U.N. World Food Program. He appealed for "all diplomatic efforts possible to try to find a political solution" to the war and for supply lines to remain open.

Two Israeli airstrikes targeted a house in Nabatieh, our correspondent reports.

Hezbollah claimed an attack at 7 p.m. on the Israeli barracks of Maale Golani with a barrage of missiles. The party also reported targeting the Homa base in the occupied Syrian Golan at 7:30 p.m. with a missile salvo.

Hezbollah also claimed responsibility for an attack carried out at 7:50 p.m. against Israeli soldiers in Kfar Giladi, northern Israel.

The South Lebanon Water Authority announced the deaths of seven of its employees killed by Israeli strikes: Said Ali Kabalan from Bint Jbeil; Mahmoud el-Amine from Zahrani; Mokhtar Bahjat from Nabatieh; Ali Sobhi Mansour from Taybeh; Hussein Raslan from Taybeh; Karim Darouich from Nabatieh; and Saleh Ahmad Mahdi from Sour.

Israeli airstrikes between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in southern Lebanon targeted: Haris, Qaouzah, Shhour, Zebqine, Aitit, Rshaf, Yater, Tayr Harfa, and Alma al-Shaab, according to our correspondent.

Israeli artillery also struck Kfar Shuba, Jabal Sadana, and Shebaa.

The latest developments in southern Lebanon, according to our correspondent:

- Israeli airstrikes on Shhour (Sour district) killed a former municipal president, Hajj Ali Zein, and his son Ahmad.

- The Israeli air force struck Kfar Kila (Marjayoun district).

- An Israeli guided missile hit Tayr Harfa (Sour district).

The Israeli army announced that Hezbollah fired around 320 projectiles from Lebanon toward Israel during Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, from Friday evening until sunset on Saturday.

"Throughout the Yom Kippur weekend, approximately 320 projectiles launched by the terrorist organization Hezbollah crossed the border from Lebanon into Israel," the army said in a statement cited by AFP.

Israeli warplanes raided the al-Mahmoudi farm near Aishieh (Jezzine district), and targeted a house in the town of Haris (Bint Jbeil district), local residents reported.

Two people from the town of Fnaidek (Akkar district) allegedly received calls at different times today from unknown numbers claiming to be from the Israeli army warning them to evacuate their homes and move away from them for a distance of more than three kilometers, local residents told our correspondent in the north.

The number threatened that the two individuals were being monitored and that they knew about their alleged communication with people within the town of Marjhin in the Baalbek-Hermel district and that the Israeli air force is monitoring Qammoua (Akkar district), local residents reported to our correspondent in the north.

These calls caused confusion among the residents about whether they were serious or false warnings, our correspondent reported. The concerned security authorities were informed of the matter and residents are awaiting a response.

The Israeli strike reported earlier on the village of Maaysra, in the Kesrouan region, claimed the lives of several members of the Amro family, according to our correspondent in North Lebanon.

They are Wafic Amro, Ali Ahmad Amro, Lea Ahmad Amro, Mohammad Amro and Ali Amro, a centenarian born in 1923. A 4-year-old girl, Zahraa Amro, was injured, as were Leyla Chammas, Ali Karaki, Hassan Chalhoub, Violette Feghali and Mariam Mekdad.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) says that for the past 12 months, 90 percent of children in Gaza have suffered from “food poverty.”

“Human suffering should never be normalized,” PRCS said on X. “We must work towards ending this ongoing crisis.”

Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, said on Telegram that its fighters attacked Israeli forces with mortar shells and “destroyed a concentration” in the east of the camp in northern Gaza.

It also said fighters struck an Israeli Merkava tank with a Yassin 105 rocket in central Jabalia.

Israel targeted Shaqra (Bint Jbeil district) and Wadi Jeelo (Sour district), local residents told L'Orient Today.

In the last 24 hours, 26 people have been killed and 144 wounded in Israeli attacks in Lebanon, bringing the total toll since Oct. 8, 2023 to 2,255 killed and 10,524 wounded. These figures were given by the Ministry of Health in a press release.

"Two people were lightly wounded by a rocket that landed in an open area in Jadeidi-Makr, a town near Acre in northern Israel, in the most recent barrage from Lebanon. An industrial building in the area was damaged," Haaretz reported.

Norway has slammed Israel’s “brutal warfare” in Gaza, accusing it of violating the rules of war.

“Israel’s brutal warfare in Gaza includes indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks, as well as measures that prevent the population from receiving humanitarian aid. This is in violation of the rules of war,” Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said in a statement.

“Last night, a peacekeeper at UNIFIL’s headquarters in Naqoura was hit by gunfire due to ongoing military activity nearby,” a statement from UNIFIL on X said, adding that the peacekeeper was “stable” after having surgery.

“We do not yet know the origin of the fire,” it added.

A UNIFIL peacekeeper has been wounded in Lebanon, the fifth in two days, UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti told AFP on Saturday, noting that the force had refused to leave its positions in southern Lebanon as Israel had demanded.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) refused to withdraw five kilometers further north into Lebanese territory, as demanded by the Israeli army, which has since targeted it on several occasions, provoking an international outcry, Tenenti also said.

“The Israeli forces asked us to leave our positions along the Blue Line, from the border to five kilometers from the Blue Line (...) but there was a unanimous decision for us to stay, because the U.N. flag must fly in this area,” he explained. He also reported “a lot of damage” to UNIFIL positions in southern Lebanon.

Here’s an update on the security situation in southern Lebanon:

*Intense Israeli airstrikes with multiple rockets targeted Aita al-Shaab in the Bint Jbeil district, local residents reported.

*Israeli warplanes also targeted a house in the town of Kfar Houna in the Jezzine district, according to local residents.

Hezbollah said it "launched a missile strike at 03:15 p.m., targeting the Zvulun military industries base," in northern Israel.

In a new report, the Ministry of Health said that the Israeli strike on Maaysra, in the Kesrouan region, killed one and injured nine others.

The death toll from the Israeli strike on Barja, in the Chouf region, has risen to at least four killed.

According to a provisional toll from the Ministry of Health, four people were killed and 14 wounded.

The house targeted by an Israeli strike on the outskirts of Deir Billa in the Batroun district belongs to a Shiite sheikh, according to our correspondent in the north. It is a two-story house housing families displaced from the south.

Eight ambulances belonging to the Lebanese Red Cross from the Batroun, Zghorta and Koura centers were on the scene.

At least two people were killed in the strike and others, including children, were injured. Search operations are continuing.

An Israeli strike targeted Deir Billa (Batroun district) for the first time, according to our correspondent in North Lebanon.

Lebanese Red Cross ambulances and Civil Defense teams were dispatched to the scene.

A wounded man in critical condition was transferred to Notre Dame des Secours hospital in Jbeil, according to our correspondent.

Russia, Syria and Iran should take more effective measures to protect Syria's territorial integrity, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said, when asked about Israel's recent strike on Damascus, Reuters reported.

"Israel is the most concrete threat to regional and global peace," Erdogan said in an interview with Turkish media, according to Reuters.

"It is essential that Russia, Iran and Syria take more effective measures against this situation, which poses the greatest threat to Syria's territorial integrity," according to a readout of the interview from the presidency.

Evacuation of the Pepsi Co. building in al-Aqabieh (Saida district), which houses more than 20 displaced families from southern villages, occurred after the Lebanese Army confirmed the validity of evacuation warning messages sent to the displaced individuals in this building, according to local sources.

One was killed and seven injured were transported from the Israeli airstrike on Barja (Chouf district) to hospitals, a paramedic source told L'Orient Today.

Here’s an update on the security situation in southern Lebanon:

*Israeli warplanes conducted an airstrike between the towns of Shamaa and Tayr Harfa (both located in the Sour district), local residents reported.

*An airstrike targets a building in the town of Kfar Melki (Saida district), according to local residents.

On Saturday Hezbollah announced two operations it had launched on Israeli Friday night:

*Hezbollah announced Saturday an operation its fighters had done Friday night when they "launched an aerial attack at 8 p.m. using a squadron of kamikaze drones targeting the air defense base in Kiryat Eliezer, west of the city of Haifa, hitting their targets accurately."

*The party also said it launched an aerial attack at 5 p.m. on Friday using a squadron of kamikaze drones on Ein Margalit, in Haifa, hitting their targets accurately."

Hezbollah said its fighters targeted "an assembly of Israeli soldiers in Misgav Am [facing the Lebanese town of Odaisseh in the Marjayoun district] with artillery shells at 2:30 p.m."

The Israeli raid that targeted a house in Maaysra, Kesrouan, injured at least three people, according to our correspondent in North Lebanon.

The Lebanese Civil Defense and the Lebanese Red Cross hospitalized the wounded.

Israeli warplanes raided a residential building on the outskirts of Barja, in the Chouf region, according to our correspondent.

This is the first time this locality has been targeted since the beginning of the war.

Israeli warplanes have targeted the Ksar Zaatar neighborhood in the town of Nabatieh, residents told our correspondent.

At 12:20 p.m., Hezbollah targeted the Israeli Keren Naftali communications base in the Upper Galilee “with a heavy barrage of rockets.”

It also targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in Khirbet Nafha, opposite Marjayoun, and Kfar Giladi, opposite Maroun al-Ras in the Bint Jbeil district, with a barrage of rockets at 12:20 p.m.

Hezbollah also claimed to have targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers in the Israeli town of Manara, opposite Houla in the Marjayoun district, with artillery shells at 1p.m.

An Israeli raid targeted a building in Kfar Melki, east of Saida, according to our correspondent in South Lebanon.

According to our correspondent Michel Hallak, the Israeli raid on a house in Maaysra, Kesrouan, also injured residents of nearby buildings. Search operations continue under the rubble of the targeted house.

Hezbollah targeted an Israeli soldiers' gathering in Kfar Yuval, a northern Israeli village across from Wazzani, with a salvo of rockets at 12:20 p.m.

Hezbollah said it launched at 12:20 p.m. "a large rocket barrage targeting a gathering of Israeli forces in the [Israeli town of] Metula," opposite Khiam in the Marjayoun district.

Salman Zarka, director of the Israeli Ziv Hospital in Safed, told CNN that since the beginning of the Israeli ground incursion into southern Lebanon, the facility has treated “more than 100 soldiers in the first few days.”

Four Israeli airstrikes targeted Zebqine in the Sour district and one airstrike targeted Aita al-Shaab in the Bint Jbeil district, local residents reported.

The Israeli army’s Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, posted an urgent statement on X, instructing residents of several southern villages to evacuate immediately and move north of the Litani River "for their safety."

The villages listed for evacuation include Aita al-Shaab, Ramieh, Yater, Qouzah, Beit Leif, Hanine, Rshaf, Ainata, Kafr Hammam and Kafra in the Bint Jbeil district; Qlaileh and Hosh in the Sour district; Nabaa, Tulin, Jisr Abu Zablah, Jabal al-Aads, Dahr Bureij Jaber and Khiyam in the Marjayoun district; and Al-Tamriyah and Al-Kharbah in the Hasbaya district. Adraee warned that "Hezbollah's activities are forcing the [Israeli army] to take action against it."

He further instructed residents: "You must leave your homes and move immediately north of the river. To ensure your safety, evacuation must be done without delay. Heading south is prohibited, as any movement toward the south poses a risk to your life. We will inform you when conditions allow for your return home."

The Secretary General of the Lebanese Red Cross, Georges Kettaneh, stated that the organization "informs the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and UNIFIL of all its movements and missions, especially when it operates at the border with Israel, to ensure the protection of volunteer rescuers," according to local media reports.

He also noted that the Lebanese Red Cross "was transporting medical supplies and fuel to the government hospital in Tebnine with funding from the ICRC and in coordination with the government emergency committee, as well as to Western Bekaa, Rashaya, Zahle and soon to Baalbeck."

"We have always stood by the Lebanese people, their resistance, and the Lebanese government," said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf upon his arrival at Beirut international airport.

"At the end of my tour, I will go to Geneva and carry with me the issues of the oppressed Lebanese and Palestinian people," he added.

As the Israeli military attacks northern Gaza from the air and ground, the armed wing of Hamas reports that ground fighting continues in the southern part of the enclave as well.

The Qassam Brigades stated on Telegram that the fighters used Yassin-105 anti-armor explosive shells in the al-Jnaina neighborhood east of Rafah city, located in the southernmost part of Gaza, to target two Merkava tanks and a D9 bulldozer belonging to the Israeli military.

Israeli fighter jets targeted the village of Mahrouneh in the Sour district, according to our correspondent. Israeli airstrikes also targeted Sultanieh, Dibil and Braasheet in the Bint Jbeil district.

The Israeli army urged residents of southern Lebanon on Saturday not to return home, emphasizing that its troops continue to confront fighters from Hezbollah in the region.

Israeli forces continue to "target Hezbollah positions in or near your villages," stated Avichay Adraee, the army's spokesperson for the Arabic-speaking public, in a message posted on X. "For your own safety, do not return home until further notice. Do not head south; anyone heading south risks putting their life in danger," he added.

Avichay Adraee regularly posts such warnings in the morning on his X account.

Hezbollah targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers on the outskirts of Blida in the Marjayoun district with a salvo of rockets at 10 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m., it also fired a salvo of rockets at the town of Tiberias, about 30 kilometers from the Blue Line.

The Health Ministry in Gaza has announced a new death toll of 42,175 in the Palestinian territory since the start of the war.

In the past 24 hours, 49 people have been killed, according to a statement from the ministry, adding that 98,336 people have been injured in the Gaza Strip since the war began on Oct. 7, 2023.

This morning, Israeli fighter jets targeted Khiam in the Marjayoun district and Doueir al-Sharqieh in the Nabatieh district. Israeli artillery fire also struck the Khiam plain.

The toll from the Israeli strike that targeted the home of Sheikh Abbas Chami, a local mosque leader in the village of Baissariyeh (in the Saida district), has risen to five fatalities. According to our correspondent, the bodies of two more of the Sheikh's children, Nassim and Hassan, were found this morning under the rubble. His two daughters, Daha and Fatima, were also killed in the strike yesterday, along with his brother, Hussein, who served in the Lebanese army.

The Israeli army claimed to have intercepted a missile fired from Lebanon toward Israel after alarm sirens sounded earlier in the day, Haaretz reports.

Israeli artillery fire targeted the Khiam plain and the villages of Mais al-Jabal and Mohaibib in the Marjayoun district. The village of Khiam was also hit by an Israeli airstrike.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Beirut this morning, according to our correspondent Hoda Chedid.

He was welcomed by Amal Movement MP Mohammad Khawaja, representing Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, and Hezbollah MP Hassan Ezzeddine, as reported by the National News Agency.

Israeli army Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee warned this morning that the military "will take necessary measures" against any vehicle transporting Hezbollah fighters.

"The Israeli army recently revealed that members of Hezbollah are using ambulances to transport saboteurs and weapons. [...] We urge medical teams to avoid dealing with Hezbollah members and not to cooperate with them," Adraee warned on X.

He also indicated that "necessary measures will be taken against any vehicle transporting fighters, regardless of its type."

Nicaragua announced it will sever diplomatic relations with Israel, which has been criticized by President Daniel Ortega’s government over its war with Hamas in Gaza, Vice President Rosario Murillo said.

“Our president has instructed the Foreign Ministry to break diplomatic ties with the fascist and genocidal government of Israel,” Murillo, who is also Ortega’s wife, told the state media.

The move is mostly symbolic and political, given that the two countries have minimal relations, and Israel has no ambassador in Managua. Nicaragua and Israel had previously restored diplomatic ties in 2017, following a break initiated by Ortega in 2010.

Mexico’s new president, Claudia Sheinbaum, called for the recognition of both Palestine and Israel as part of efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.

“The Palestinian state must be recognized in its entirety, just as the State of Israel. This has been Mexico’s position for many years,” Sheinbaum said in her first statement on the topic since taking office Oct. 1. In her daily press briefing, Sheinbaum also condemned the violence in the region, adding that “war will never lead to a good destination.”

An Israeli airstrike on Batoulieh in the Sour district resulted in injuries, according to our correspondent. The Israeli army also conducted an airstrike on Kfar Sir in the Nabatieh district.

Israeli night airstrikes targeted the villages of Nabi Sheet, Saraine (Baalbeck district) and Riyaq (Zahle district), according to our correspondent in the region, Sarah Abdallah.

This morning, Hezbollah bombarded at 6 a.m. with "a salvo of missiles at base [7200] located south of Haifa, targeting an explosive materials factory.'' The party had claimed the day before an attack with explosive drones against an airbase in Haifa.

This morning, an Israeli Airstrike targeted the outskirts of Bazourieh and Srifa (Sour district):

An airstrike carried out at dawn by Israeli warplanes on the main road of Kawthariyet al-Siyad in the Sour district destroyed more than nine shops.

Israeli army targets several villages overnight, according to our correspondent Muntasser Abdallah:

- Between 11:00 p.m. and midnight, Israeli airstrikes targeted the villages of Aita al-Shaab, Hanine, Kafra and Serbine. Artillery fire also hit Hanine and Aita al-Shaab.

- At midnight, eight Israeli airstrikes targeted Aita al-Shaab (Bint Jbeil) and six others hit the village of Chacra (Bint Jbeil).

- After midnight, heavy missiles were fired at Majdal Selm, Tayr Debba, Kounin, Kabriha, Dhaira, Ramiyeh, Majdal Zoun, Marwahine, and Ainata, causing loud explosions that resonated throughout southern Lebanon. One person was killed in raids targeting the outskirts of Ghazieh.

Hezbollah claims six attacks overnight:

- At 1:00 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., Hezbollah claimed responsibility for two attacks. The first targeted "a gathering of Israeli enemy soldiers at the 'Jardah' site," while the second aimed at "the 'Souma' base in the occupied Golan Heights." Both attacks were carried out using "salvos of rockets."

- At 2:10 a.m., the group targeted a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the Zar'it barracks (across from the Lebanese village of Ramiyeh) with a salvo of rockets.

- At 3:45 a.m., Hezbollah fired a rocket at an Israeli army position in Ma'ilia, facing Yarin.

- At 3:50 a.m., as an Israeli military bulldozer attempted to leave the area near Ramiyeh towards the village, Hezbollah claimed to have targeted it with a guided missile, hitting it "directly."

- At 4:15 a.m., Hezbollah fighters targeted an infantry force at Khirbet Zar'it with artillery shells, claiming to have "directly hit" it.

Overnight, Hezbollah urged Israelis to stay away from military sites located in residential areas of northern Israel.

"The Israeli enemy's army is using houses [...] as gathering centers for its officers and soldiers" in several regions of northern Israel and "has military bases" in major northern cities, including "Haifa, Tiberias and Acre," Hezbollah stated in a message broadcast in Arabic and Hebrew. The party warned "residents who may be near these military gatherings to preserve their lives."

The 10 elected members of the U.N. Security Council expressed “deep concern” over attacks on several UNIFIL positions on Oct. 10 and 11, according to a statement released yesterday. They urged “all parties to respect international humanitarian law and ensure the safety and security of UNIFIL personnel and facilities.” They further noted that “any deliberate attack on peacekeepers is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701, and must stop immediately.”

The council members also voiced “grave concern” over the rising civilian casualties, the destruction of civilian infrastructure and the increasing number of internally displaced people in Lebanon. They called for an immediate ceasefire, strict compliance with international humanitarian law and the full implementation of Resolution 1701.

Yesterday, UNIFIL announced that its headquarters in Naqoura "was struck by explosions for the second time in 48 hours." The statement noted that "two Sri Lankan peacekeepers were injured after two explosions occurred near an observation tower."

An Israeli strike on Kafra (Bint Jbeil district) in southern Lebanon killed two Lebanese soldiers and injured three others yesterday, according to the Lebanese army. Another strike in Baissariyeh, in the Saida District, also killed a Lebanese soldier and his two children, according to our correspondent Muntasser Abdallah.

Hezbollah claimed responsibility for two additional attacks at 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. The first targeted “a gathering of Israeli soldiers at the 'Jardah' site,” while the second struck “the 'Souma' base in the occupied Syrian Golan.” Both attacks were carried out with “salvos of rockets,” according to Hezbollah.
